Assistant Civil Architect and Engineer 1808-12
On the incorporation of the Naval Works Department with the Navy Board in 1808, Holl, the Architect and Engineer from that Department was given the title of Assistant Civil Architect and Engineer. (fn. 1) The change in title was effected by Admiralty warrant and a salary of £400 was attached to the office. (fn. 2) The salary was increased to £600 in 1811. (fn. 3) On the abolition of the office of Civil Architect and Engineer in 1812, Holl was retained on the establishment of the Navy Board and given the title of Surveyor of Buildings. (fn. 4)
