Draftsmen to Surveyors 1807-32

In 1807 it was provided that the three Draftsmen to the Surveyors, who had previously been borne as Quartermen in one of the royal dockyards and paid a daily allowance for their attendance at the Navy Office, should be placed on the establishment of the Navy Board at a salary of £250. Subsequent appointments to the offices were confirmed by Admiralty order. (fn. 1) An additional Temporary Draftsman also at a salary of £250 was employed between 1807 and 1810, and 1813 and 1816. (fn. 2) In 1816 the salary of the first Draftsman was increased to £400, of the second to £350, and of the third to £300. (fn. 3) An Assistant Draftsman at a salary of £300 was employed between 1816 and 1821. (fn. 4) In 1828 the position of third Draftsman was discontinued. (fn. 5)
