A Petition of the Freeholders and substantial Householders of the County of Suffolk, agreed to unanimously at a Meeting convened by the High Sheriff of the said County at Stowmarket, was presented and read; praying their Lordships, "That the Measure for effecting a Reform of the existing Abuses in the Representation of the People in the Commons House of Parliament, when introduced into this House, may be allowed to pass through its various Stages without any Modification or Alteration in its Principle in any way whatever."

Ordered, That the said Petition be received as the Petition of "John Read Sheriff," who only has signed it.

Upon reading the Petition of the Persons licensed to sell Beer by Retail residing in the Parish of Sheffield, in the County of York, whose Names are thereunto subscribed; praying, "That their Lordships will be pleased to alter the Statute under which they are licensed, by allowing them to keep open their Houses in the same Manner as Licensed Victuallers are allowed to do:"

Law of Divorce (Scotland) Bill presented.

The Earl of Eldon presented to the House a Bill, intituled, "An Act to remedy the Evils which His Majesty's Subjects sustain from conflicting Decisions of the Courts of Law in England and Scotland on the Subject of Divorces a Vinculo Matrimonii, granted by the Courts of Law in Scotland at the Suit of Persons not possessing a real and permanent Domicile therein."

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Ordered, That the said Bill be printed.

The Order of the Day being read for the Lords to be summoned;

Then the Order of the Day for the House to be again put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to establish a Court in Bankruptcy," was read.

Hunter v. Gardner.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of John Hunter, Merchant in Edinburgh; complaining of Two Interlocutors of the Lords of Session in Scotland, of the Second Division, of the 8th and 10th Days of March 1831; and praying, "That the same may be reversed, varied or altered, or that the Appellant may have such Relief in the Premises, as to this House, in their Lordships great Wisdom, shall seem meet; and that George Gardner, Comptroller General of His Majesty's Customs in Scotland, may be required to answer the said Appeal:"

It is Ordered, That the said George Gardner may have a Copy of the said Appeal, and do put in his Answer thereunto, in Writing, on or before Monday the 18th Day of April next; and Service of this Order upon the said Respondent, or upon any one of his known Agents in the Court of Session in Scotland, shall be deemed good Service.
