EntryK appeared and confessed that he had applied an ointment, externally & per anum, to Worcall, a tailor suffering from severe paralysis from swelling of the feet. (He had also given a potion of Guiacum & Senna, and powdered root of bryony & laurel.) W's wife said that K had also given 1 pill of mercury. W had vomited profusely, his tongue swelled, his teeth fell out & he continually salivated. K had disparaged the advice of a doctor. He denied that his ointment contained mercury, but tests showed that it did.
