Asteley's Nat.

L. 1a. An Act for the Naturalizing of Isaac Asteley, Henry Asteley, Tho. Asteley, and Barnard Asteley, Children and Sons of Sir Jacob Asteley Knight, One of the younger Sons of Isaac Asteley, late of Melton Constable in the County of Norfolke, Esquire, deceased.

Recusants.

Sir Tho. Hobby reporteth the Bill for Explanation of the Statute, 3o Jac. concerning Recusants, with Amendments, and a Proviso ; which twice read. - Engrossetur,

E. of Bristow.

Mr. Hackwyll reporteth the Earl of Bristow his Bill. - That it appeared, by an Acquittance under the Great Seal, testifying, he had paid King James 10,000l. for these Manors; and the Earl affirmed, he could prove he had paid, besides that, 6,000 l. in all, 16,000 l. for Service. - That the Bishop of Salisbury signified his Consent to the Bill, by Three Knights Members of this House.

Some Amendments, in Paper, annexed; which twice read.

L. 3a. An Act for the Confirmation of Letters Patents made by our late sovereign Lord King James, to John Earl of Bristoll, by the Name of John Digby Knight; - Upon Question, with these Amendments, passed.

Manwaring's Sermons.

Mr. Pymme reporteth from the Committee for Manwaring's Charge, Two Sermons late made by him.

Sir Francis Annsley, Sir Francis Darcy, Sir Ben. Rudyard, Mr. Selden, Mr. Littleton, Sir James Perrot, Sir Tho. Hobby and Mr. Hackwill, added to the Committee for Manwaring's Charge : - To meet this Afternoon, in the Duchy Chamber, and consider of his Two Sermons ; with Power to send for Witnesses.

Mr. Whitaker: - That Dr. Manwaring desireth to be heard here.

These Two Sermons 4o Maii, and his Latin Sermon at Oxford. -

Ordered, That Dr. Manwaring, if he will come upon Monday Morning next, to make his Defence, shall be then heard : And Mr. Whitaker hath undertaken to give him Notice.

Warwicke Election.

Mr. Hackwill reporteth from the Committee for Privileges, &c. the Case of Warwicke. - Question, whether the Election to be made by the Mayor and Common Council, or by the Commons in general [a]. -

That a Petition produced, whereby about 200 Commoners disclaim to have any Right of Election ; but that refused to be accepted by the Committee, because, if but One Commoner appear to sue for his Right, they will hear him.

1. Upon Question, the Right of Election for the Town of Warwicke, belongeth to the Commonalty.

2. That Ro. Grevyll and Mr. Francis Lucy unduly elected.

New Writ.

3ly, That a new Writ to issue for a new Choice in their Rooms.

Charge against Ld. Mohun.

Ordered, The Charge against the Lord Mohun shall be sent up with all Speed.

Sir Jo. Ellyott to deliver the Charge, and to bring it in upon Tuesday Morning next. The former Committee, to agree upon it, to meet this Afternoon, Three Clock, in the former [Place.]

Subsidy.

To go on presently to the Committee for the Bill of Subsidy.
