CHARITY FOR THE POOR.
Cecilia Heald (d.
1735) left for bread for the poor at Easter either
£35 (fn. 39) or £26 which accumulated because the charity
was not distributed until 1766. (fn. 40) The interest in 1818
and 1835 was £1 15s. (fn. 41) Between 1887 and 1905 reinvestment of the capital evidently reduced the
amount distributed to c. £1, (fn. 42) and in the 1980s the
charity was allowed to accumulate for distribution every few years in bread rolls at the Easter
communion. (fn. 43)
