PRAYERS.

Foxe's Ordinance.

MR. Hallowes, Sir Wm. Massam, Mr. Gallopp, Mr. Exton, are added to the Committee for Colonel Foxe his Ordinance: And they, or any Four of that Committee, have Power to meet upon that Ordinance.

Grant to Pierrepont.

Ordered, That Mr. Wm. Pierrepont shall have the Earl of Kingston's Coach and Harness, and other Appurtenances belonging unto it, now under Sequestration, bestowed upon him: And the Sequestrators, and other Officers in whose Custody it now remains, and whom it concerns, are hereby required, to deliver the said Coach, Harness, and other Appurtenances belonging unto it, unto Mr. Pierrepont, or such as he shall appoint to receive the same.

Ordination.

Ordered, That the House be presently resolved into a Committee, to proceed with the Rules of Ordination, presented from the Assembly of Divines.

Day's &c. Claims.

Upon the humble Petition of Tho. Day and Wm. Cullen, Gentlemen, who paid unto Colonel Anth. Allen, upon the Ordinance for reducing of Newcastle, Three hundred Fifty-five Pounds Eighteen Shillings and Eleven-pence, as appears by an Acquittance of the Third of August, 1643, under the Hand of the said Colonel Anth. Allen;

It is Ordered, That the Examination of the true State of this Business referred to the Committee for Examinations: And, if they shall find the Monies mentioned in the Petition have been advanced upon any Order, or by virtue of any Order, of this House, that they take some Course, that the Petitioners may have the publick Faith for the Monies by them advanced: And likewise to take some Course, that the said Colonel Anth. Allen may be brought forthwith to Account.

Goods seized.

Ordered, That the Goods that are brought up, which were seized at the Lord Mountague's House in Sussex, and particularly those Goods remaining at the Talbott in Southwarke, in Captain Higgon's Custody, be carried into Cambden House: And all the said Goods be there sold to the best Value: And the Committee at Cambden House are to take care to see this Order executed: And the Serjeant is to send this Order to the said Committee.

Broad, &c. Accounts.

Exceptions against Auditor Broad, in the Execution of his Office, upon the Perusal of some of those many Accounts which he maketh up by himself, were this Day presented to the House, attested by Auditor Rich. Wilcox.

And the same Auditor Rich. Wilcox was called in to the Bar; and did avow the Exceptions; and that he would make all good that was attested under his Hand.

Ordered, That the Exceptions against Auditor Broad be referred to the Consideration and Examination of the Committee for my Lord General's Army, where Mr. Tate has the Chair.

The Information given in, concerning Mr. Pullen's procuring Warrants for discharging Accomptants from accompting before the Committee, is likewise referred to this Committee: And they, or any Four of them, are appointed to meet upon these Particulars this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Star Chamber; and so, from time to time, as they shall think fit: And are to report the State of these Particulars to this House; and their Opinions what is fit to be done hereupon: And have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, Records.

Publick Accounts.

An Ordinance for the Explanation of a former Ordinance, for the taking and receiving Accounts of the Kingdom, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon Question, committed unto Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Strode, Mr. Stephens, Sir Tho. Soame, Mr. Scawen, Sir Hen. Mildmay, Sir Jo. Trevor, Mr. Ashe, Mr. Rolle, Mr. Hodges, Sir T. Barrington, Sir Walt. Erle, Mr. Green, Mr. Cage, Sir Jo. Clotworthy, Sir Jo. Corbett, Mr. Buller, Sir T. Widdrington, Mr. Whitehead, Mr. Vassal, Sir Tho. Woodhouse, Mr. Trenchard; and are to meet To-morrow, at Two post Meridiem, in the Exchequer Chamber: And have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, Records, &c.

Propositions to Common Council.

Sir Tho. Soame, Mr. Vassal, Mr. Spurstow, are appointed to go to my Lord Mayor, to desire him to call a Common Council, to meet To-morrow at Eight of Clock. And

It is Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of both Kingdoms to prepare some Propositions to be offered to the Common Council, upon the Relation made by Mr. Nicoll, of the State of Oxon, and the Parts thereabouts.

It is likewise referred to the Committee of both Kingdoms, presently to consider of, and take some speedy Course for, preventing any Relief to come to Oxon.

Committee of both Kingdoms.

Sir H. Mildmay is appointed to go to the Lords, to desire them, that those Lords that are Members of the Committee of both Kingdoms, may presently meet upon Matters of great Importance.

Transporting Wool, &c.

Ordered, That the Ordinance concerning the Transportation of Wool, Fulling Earth, and Corn, be peremptorily read To-morrow Morning.

Committee of both Kingdoms.

Mr. Solicitor acquainted the House, that the Committee of both Kingdoms had, upon some important Occasions, dispatched Sir H. Vane jun. into the North, and Mr. Crew to my Lord General's Army (Members of this House); which, because it was done without the Privity of this House, they therefore appointed him to acquaint the House with so much.

Money for Army.

Ordered, That the Commissioners of Excise do, by Tuesday next, peremptorily, pay in the Twelve thousand Seven hundred Pounds, being the Remainder of the Second Month's Pay, assigned monthly upon the Monies that come in upon the Excise, for my Lord General's Army.

It is further Ordered, That the monthly Monies assigned upon the City of London for my Lord General's Army, be paid in by Tuesday next, at farthest; and that likewise the monthly Monies assigned upon the Suburbs and the County of Middlesex, be paid in likewise by Tuesday next, peremptorily, at farthest: And it is referred to the Committee for the Excise, where Mr. Long has the Chair, to employ their best Diligence, that these Monies respectively be paid in by Tuesday next accordingly: And the Care hereof is more especially referred to Mr. Long, Mr. Nicoll, Mr. Strode, and the Treasurer at Wars.

Ordered, That the Committees of Sussex and Surry do pay in the Monies, due upon the Ordinance of Association, to Mr. Trenchard, Treasurer for Sir Wm. Waller's Army, by Tuesday next, at farthest, peremptorily.

Payment for Shoes.

Ordered, That the Committee at Haberdashers Hall do forthwith pay, upon Account, unto the Treasurer at Wars, so much Monies as shall discharge the Shoes contracted for, by Order of this House, for my Lord General's Army: And that the Treasurer at Wars do pay the same to the Persons contracted with for the said Shoes; and take Course, that the Monies disbursed for these Shoes, may be deducted out of the Soldiers Entertainment.

Sequestered Timber.

An Ordinance for felling Timber, to the Value of One thousand Pounds, out of the Woods of Mr. Tho. Hacon of Muttford, a Papist, to be employed for the present providing of Powder, was this Day read; and upon Question, passed: And that the Lords Concurrence be desired herein.

Cooke's Pay.

Ordered, That the Committee at Haberdashers Hall do take care to pay unto Mr. Cooke, the Mark-master of my Lord General's Army, from time to time, the Pay settled upon him by the Establishment of my Lord General's Army.

Horse Arms.

Ordered, That Sir Gilbert Pickering do take Order, that the Fifty Pair of Pistols, and Horse Arms, provided for Northamptonshire, be delivered into the Office of the Ordnance, to be disposed of as the Committee of both Kingdoms shall appoint, and no otherwise: And that the County of Northampton shall be reimbursed the Money the said Pistols and Arms comes to, out of Haberdashers Hall.

Kent Forces.

Ordered, That the Troop of Horse, and Company of Dragoons in Kent, shall be taken into the Pay of the State, from the time as they shall march out of their Country, and be employed as the Committee of both Kingdoms shall appoint: And that Sir Henry Heyman do write a Letter, by the Command of the House, to the Committee in Kent, to desire them forthwith to get in Readiness, to dispatch away the said Troop, and Company of Dragoons: The Committee of both Kingdoms is appointed to write to the Committee in Kent to this Purpose likewise.

Temple's Arrears, &c.

Ordered, That the associated Counties of Essex, Suffolk, Herts, &c. do advance unto Captain Temple, upon Account, Five hundred Pounds, in Part of the Arrears of Captain Temple's Entertainment, according to the Direction of the Ordinance: And Captain Temple with his Troop is appointed to be disposed of upon this present Service, by the Committee of both Kingdoms.

Army.

Ordered, That Colonel Purefoy do presently march with his Regiment of Horse, upon the present Service against Oxon, as he shall be directed by the Committee of both Kingdoms.

Resolved, &c. That the several Troops of Horse desired by my Lord General to be sent after him, be taken into the Entertainment of the State, upon this present Service; and employed according to the Directions of the Committee of both Kingdoms: And Colonel Long is to employ his best Care in this Business.

Ordered, That all those Horse that Colonel Morley and Captain Higgons has, shall be employed upon this present Service, according to the Directions of the Committee of both Kingdoms.

Ordered, That the Committee of both Kingdoms do write to the Committee of the Militia; and desire them, that the Regiment of City Horse under Command of Colonel Underwood, may be employed upon the present Service; and disposed of according as the Committee of both Kingdoms shall direct and appoint.

Ordered, That the Middlesex Troop shall be forthwith employed upon this present Service, and disposed of according as the Committee of both Kingdoms shall direct and appoint.

Sir Henry Heyman, Mr. Bond, Mr. Whitlock, Mr. Cage, Sir John Francklyn, Colonel Ven, Sir John Hippisley, Mr. Knightley, Mr. Long, Sir Peter Wentworth, Sir Gilb. Gerard, Mr. Pury, Sir Tho. Barrington, Sir Ol. Luke, Mr. Trenchard, Mr. Whittacre, Mr. Heveningham, Mr. Lisle, Mr. Gourdon, Sir John Clotworthy;

This Committee, or any Four of them, are to consider how Monies may be raised and provided for the due Payment of those several Troops of Horse, this Day voted to be sent into Oxfordshire; and likewise how Horses may be speedily taken up, in and about London, for this Expedition; and what Number of Horses, and how to be set out: And are likewise to consider, how the Owners of Carts and Horses, employed to carry Provisions to the Army, may be satisfied their Pay; and how the Abuses committed in the taking up of Carts may be prevented: And are to sit this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Exchequer Chamber: And the Care of this Order is especially recommended to Mr. Pury.

House for Irish Agents.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Care of Sir John Clotworthy, and Mr. Reynolds, to provide a convenient House, that is sequestred, for the Agents for the Protestants in Ireland; and that it be accommodated with Furniture, and other Necessaries, out of the Goods that are sequestered, and in the Hands of the Committee for Sequestrations, at Cambden House.

Order amended.

Ordered, That the Word "Horses" be added to the Order of the Twenty-seventh of May, concerning Leicestershire.

Sequestered Timber.

Ordered and Ordained, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That Mr. Thomas Sotherton of Helsden, and Mr. Robert Woods of Howe, Two of the Committee for the County of Norfolk, shall and may, and are hereby required and authorized to enter upon the Goods, Lands, and Possessions; in the Counties of Norfolke and Suffolke, belonging to Mr. Hacon of Mutford in the County of Suffolke, a Popish Recusant, whose Estate is within the Ordinance of Sequestrations, to be sequestred; and forthwith to fell and cut down, or cause to be felled and cut down, so many Timber-trees, as do not exceed the Value of One thousand Five hundred Pounds; and the same also forthwith to sell to the best Profit and Advantage that may be made thereof; and the Money due upon the Sale thereof, to pay to Sir Walter Erle Knight, Lieutenant of the Ordinance; who is to receive the same, upon Account; and to issue the same for the satisfying of several Debts due to Mr. Beresford, for Gunpowder by him provided for the publick Service of the State; and appointed, by several Orders of the House of Commons, to be paid unto him: And the said Thomas Sotherton and Robert Woods are to cause the Bark and Tops of all such Timber, so felled, to be likewise sold for the best Advantage: And they are to give Account, in Writing, unto the Standing Committee for the County of Norfolke sitting at Norwich; who are to transmit a Copy thereof to the Committee of Accounts; and to the said Sir Walter Earle, how many Trees they so fell and cut down, and to whom the same is sold, and what Sum of Money is or shall be due for the same: And the said Thomas Sotherton and Robert Woods are hereby required, that they use their best Care and Diligence, that such Timber be felled and cut down, as is of full Growth, and most fitting to be felled and cut down: And it is further Ordered, That the said Thomas Sotherton and Robert Woods, and their Servants, or such as they shall employ in this Service, are to be saved harmless, and indemnified by the Power of Parliament, for all Acts done by them in pursuance of this Ordinance; and that no Person do molest them in the Execution of this present Ordinance.
