PRAYERS.

The Earl of Shaftesbury sat Speaker by virtue of a former Commission.

D. of Hamilton v. Aikman.

The Answer of George Robertson Aikman Esquire of Ross and Broomelton, to the Petition and Appeal of His Grace Alexander Duke of Hamilton and Brandon, was this Day brought in.

Papers delivered:

The House being informed, "That Mr. Charles Crafer, from the Treasury, attended;"

He was called in; and delivered at the Bar, pursuant to an Order of the 8th of December last,

Hop Duty:

"A Return of the Hop Duty for 1831, specifying the Districts, and the Old and New Duty, with the Number of Acres in Cultivation:"

Malt Duty:

And also, "A Return of the Number of Bushels of Malt that have paid Duty in England and Wales during the Year 1831; a similar Return for Scotland; and a similar Return for Ireland."

Mr. Charles Crafer also delivered at the Bar, pursuant to the Directions of an Act of Parliament,

Russian Dutch Loan.

"An Account, made up to 31 December 1831, of the Sums which have been paid and applied within the Year 1831, by virtue of an Act 55 Geo. 3, Cap. 115, intituled, "An Act for carrying into effect a Convention between His Majesty and The King of the Netherlands and The Emperor of all the Russias," for paying and satisfying the Interest on the Part of the Loan therein agreed to be borne by His Majesty on all or any of the Securities therein mentioned, and towards paying and satisfying the Principal thereof (in case the Principal of any of the said Securities shall have been paid;) and also for paying the Expences of carrying the said Act into Execution, and the Sinking Fund for the Extinction of the same."

And then he withdrew.

And the Titles thereof being read by the Clerk;

Ordered, That the said Papers do lie on the Table.

Ordered, That the Two first-mentioned Papers be printed.

Imperial Gas Co's Account delivered.

The House being informed, "That Mr. Henry, from The Imperial Gas Light and Coke Company, attended;"

He was called in; and delivered at the Bar, pursuant to the Directions of an Act of Parliament,

"A Return of the Contingency Fund of The Imperial Gas Light and Coke Company."

And then he withdrew.

And the Title thereof being read by the Clerk;

Ordered, That the said Return do lie on the Table.

Pasteur's Naturalization Bill, Certificate read:

A Certificate from The Right Honorable The Viscount Melbourne, One of His Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, "That Pierre Jaques Adolphe Pasteur, Son of Jaques André Pasteur by Andreanne Periette Marie Anne his Wife, born at Grand Sacconney, in the Canton of Geneva, in Switzerland, had produced to him satisfactory Proof that he is a Person well affected to His Majesty's Royal Person and Government, and of orderly Life and Conduct," was produced and read, pursuant to the Standing Order.

Pasteur takes the Oaths:

Pierre Jaques Adolphe Pasteur took the Oaths appointed, in order to his Naturalization.

Bill read 2 a, & committed.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing Pierre Jaques Adolphe Pasteur."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to the Consideration of the Lords present this Day:

Their Lordships, or any Five of them, to meet Tomorrow, at Ten o'Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings, near the House of Lords; and to adjourn as they please.

Reddie v. Syme, Barston's Petition to be added as a Respondent, referred to Appeal Com ee.

Upon reading the Petition of Charles Murray Barston, Accountant in Edinburgh; praying, "That their Lordships will be pleased to order that the Petitioner be added as a Party Respondent to the Appeal wherein John Reddie Esquire is Appellant, and David Syme Esquire is Respondent, the said Respondent having by Trust Deed conveyed and made over to and in favor of the Petitioner his whole Right and Interest in the Subject Matter of the said Appeal:"

It is Ordered, That the said Petition be referred to the Appeal Committee.

Kellie Peerage, Leave to Claimant to lodge his Case.

Upon reading the Petition of John Francis Miller Earl of Mar, Lord Erskine, &c. claiming the Titles, Honors and Dignities of Earl of Kellie, Viscount Fenton and Lord Dirlton; praying, "That their Lordships will be pleased to allow him to deposit his Case:"

It is Ordered, That the Petitioner be at liberty to lodge his Case, as desired.

Richardson to enter into a Recogce on Clark's Appeal.

The House being moved, "That John Richardson of Fludyer Street, Westminster, Gentleman, may be permitted to enter into a Recognizance for Charles Clark, on account of his Appeal depending in this House, he being in Scotland:"

The same was agreed to; and Ordered accordingly.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure.

The House was resumed by The Lord Chancellor.

Office of Works Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for uniting the Office of the Surveyor General of His Majesty's Works and Public Buildings with the Office of the Commissioners of His Majesty's Woods, Forests and Land Revenues; and for other Purposes relating to the Land Revenues."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the Whole House.

Ordered, That the House be put into a Committee upon the said Bill To-morrow.

Lottery Tickets (outstanding) Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to provide for the taking in and Payment of outstanding Lottery Tickets."

After some Time, the House was resumed:

And The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Arbitration Bill presented.

The Earl of Shaftesbury presented to the House a Bill, intituled, "An Act for settling Controversies by Arbitration."

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Ordered, That the said Bill be printed.

China Trade, Letters respecting, Ordered.

Ordered, That there be laid before this House, "A Copy of the Separate Letter from the Select Committee of Supra Cargoes in China to the Court of Directors of The East India Company, dated the 31st May 1831; with the Consultations relating thereto:"

Also, "A Copy of the Secret Letter from the Select Committee to the Court of Directors, dated the 18th June 1831; with the Consultations relating thereto:"

Also, "A Copy of the Letter from the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of The East India Company to the Select Committee, dated the 9th December 1831:"

And also, "A Copy of the Letter from the Court of Directors to the Select Committee, dated the 13th January 1832."
