Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for more effectually repairing the First District of the Road from Coleshill, through the City of Lichfield and the Town of Stone, to the End of the County of Stafford in the Road leading towards Chester, and several other Roads in the Counties of Warwick and Stafford and City and County of the City of Lichfield."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to the Consideration of the Lords present this Day:

Their Lordships, or any Five of them, to meet Tomorrow, at Ten o'Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings, near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.

Tamworth Roads Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for maintaining several Roads leading to and from the Town of Tamworth, in the Counties of Stafford and Warwick."

Common Law Courts Process Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for Uniformity of Process in Personal Actions in His Majesty's Courts of Law at Westminster."

After some Time, the House was resumed:

And The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and made several Amendments thereto, which he was ready to report, when the House will please to receive the same."

Ordered, That the said Bill, as amended, be printed.

Sentence of Death Explanation Bill.

The Order of the Day being read for the House to be put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to explain an Act passed in the Fourth Year of His late Majesty King George the Fourth, for enabling Courts to abstain from pronouncing Sentence of Death in certain Capital Felonies;"

Ordered, That the said Order be discharged.

Bridgewater & Taunton Canal Bill, Petition against, referred to the Com ee:

Upon reading the Petition of the Conservators of the River Tone Navigation, in the County of Somerset, under their Common Seal; taking notice of a Bill depending in this House, intituled "An Act to explain and amend Two Acts, of the Fifty-first Year of His late Majesty King George the Third and the Fifth Year of His late Majesty King George the Fourth, relative to the Bridgewater and Taunton Canal Navigation;" and praying their Lordships, "That they may be heard by themselves, their Agents and Witnesses against the Preamble, and so much and such Parts of the said Bill as may affect them, and that the same may not pass into a Law:"

It is Ordered, That the said Petition be referred to the Committee to whom the said Bill stands committed, and that the Petitioners be at liberty to be heard by themselves, their Agents and Witnesses against the same, as desired; and that Counsel be heard for the Bill at the same Time, if they think fit.

All Lords added to the Com ee:

Ordered, That all the Lords who have been or shall be present this Session, and are not named of the Committee to whom the said Bill stands committed, be added thereto.

Consolidated Fund Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Bernal and others;

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to apply the Sum of Three Millions, out of the Consolidated Fund, to the Service of the Year One thousand eight hundred and thirty-two;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Malt Drawback Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Bernal and others;

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to reduce the Allowance on Spirits made from Malt only in Scotland and Ireland;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Indemnity Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Bernal and others;

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to indemnify such Persons in the United Kingdom as have omitted to qualify themselves for Offices and Employments, and for extending the Time limited for those Purposes respectively until the Twenty-fifth Day of March One thousand eight hundred and thirty-three; to permit such Persons in Great Britain as have omitted to make and file Affidavits of the Execution of Indentures of Clerks to Attornies and Solicitors to make and file the same on or before the First Day of Hilary Term One thousand eight hundred and thirty-three; and to allow Persons to make and file such Affidavits, although the Persons whom they served shall have neglected to take out their Annual Certificates;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Three Bills were, severally, read the First Time.

Reform (England) Bill, Petition from Cornwall against.

Upon reading the Petition of the Inhabitants of the Northern and South-eastern Parts of the County of Cornwall, whose Names are thereunto subscribed; taking notice of a Bill depending in this House, intituled, "An Act to amend the Representation of the People in England and Wales;" and praying their Lordships for a renewed Exercise of that vigilant Wisdom and sound Discretion for which their Country has of late been already so greatly indebted to their Magnanimity; and that their Lordships will again resolutely withhold their Consent to all Changes but such as are grounded on sound Principles of Equity and a prudential Regard to Consequences, and may afford rational Hopes of permanently establishing the Constitution on the joint Interests and Affections of the more intelligent and influential Members of every Class of the Community:"

It is Ordered, That the said Petition do lie on the Table.

Bristol Blind Asylum Bill.

The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for better governing and regulating an Institution in the City of Bristol called and known by the Name of "The Bristol Asylum or School of Industry for the Blind," was committed; "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and made One Amendment thereto."

Which Amendment was read by the Clerk as follows; (vizt.)

"Pr. 19. L. 32. Leave out ("Joseph") and insert ("John")

And the said Amendment, being read a Second Time, was agreed to by the House.

Liverpool & Manchester Railway Bill Specially reported.

The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Lords Committees appointed to consider of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enabling The Liverpool and Manchester Railway Company to make a Branch Railway; and for amending and enlarging the Powers and Provisions of the several Acts relating to such Railway;" "That the Committee had met, and considered the said Bill, and, in the first place, proceeded to enquire how far the Standing Orders of the House relative to Railway Bills had been complied with, and found that all the said Orders had been complied with; and in particular, with respect to the Standing Order No. 213, that a Draft of the Bill was submitted to a Meeting of the Proprietors of the said Railway, at a Meeting held specially for that Purpose on the 2d of March last, which Meeting it was proved to the Committee was called by Advertisement inserted for Four consecutive Weeks, vizt, on the 1st, 8th, 15th and 22d of February last, in the Newspaper intituled The Liverpool Courier, the said Newspaper being published in the County of Lancaster, to which County the Bill relates; and that it appears that such Meeting was held on a Period not earlier than Seven Days after the last Insertion of the said Advertisement; and that at the said Meeting the Draft of the Bill so submitted to the Proprietors then present was unanimously approved of by them; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to their Lordships, with some Amendments."

Which Report being read by the Clerk;

Ordered, That the said Report do lie on the Table.

Then the Amendments made by the Committee to the said Bill were read by the Clerk as follow; (vizt.)

Tithes, (Ireland,) Petition from Cong for Abolition of.

Upon reading the Petition of the Inhabitants of the Parish of Cong, County of Mayo, Ireland, whose Names are thereunto subscribed; praying, "That their Lordships will make such legal Enactments as may totally remove the unjust and vexatious Tithe Tax, and appropriate all other Church Property to the Purposes for which they were originally given by our pious Ancestors, and thereby relieve the most loyal, the most patient, the most oppressed and the most wretched People on the Face of God's Earth:"

It is Ordered, That the said Petition do lie on the Table.

Colonial Revenues Audit Bill reported:

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to authorize the Commissioners for auditing the Public Accounts of Great Britain to examine and audit Accounts of the Receipt and Expenditure of Colonial Revenues."

After some Time, the House was resumed:

Cholera Prevention Act (Scotland) Amendment Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for altering and amending an Act passed in the present Session of Parliament, for the Prevention, as far as may be possible, of the Disease called the Cholera, or Spasmodic or Indian Cholera, in Scotland."
