The Committee for Conference, returned; and Mr. Recorder reported the Answer, touching Wards; Tenures, &c.

Yesterday offered 180,000l. - The Answer this Day. - What to ask, what to offer. -

Many Things had Dependency upon the King's Pleasure.

Lord Treasurer, Privy Seal, Chamberlain, and Worcester, went to the King. -

The King - what he would grant; what he would ask. -

Our Demands, 5. - The last Demands. - The first yielded.

2. The second, touching [a]. - non placet exemplum. nec placet petitio. - No law to be put upon him, where by Law he is to do Justice.

4. In his Conscience he could not yield, therefore for Money he would not sell.

5. A Mark of Conquest; therefore yielded there should be no Law altered by his Letters Patents, but all should be alike. -

The Price: - He would not have it tossed longer. -

Nine and Eleven their Conference. -

200,000l. to have all these we had asked, and the King had yielded. -

Eleven the Apostles, when *

Nine the Poets, the Philosophers. -

Ten the Commandments; - the Portion, that God took of Tythes. -

He should have the Loss of so fair an Office as any Subject in Christendom. -

If not, Vivimus inter peritura. -

If this Offer succeeded not, then this would be an End of this Parliament.

Mr. Chancellor : - A divine, a sacred Offer: Let not our Posterities curse us that we have refused.
