All the maps, except that facing page 2, were drawn by K. J. Wass of the Department of Geography, University College, London, and are based on C. G. Greenwood's Map of Middlesex (1819) and on the Ordnance Survey with the sanction of H.M. Stationery Office, Crown Copyright reserved. The map and the geological section facing pages 2 and 6 were drawn by the late G. E. Hutchings under the direction of the late Professor S. W. Wooldridge.
