Tuesday, 16th of November, 1652.

Prayers.

Correspondence with Spaine.

MR. Speaker, by way of Report, acquaints the Parliament, That he had received a Letter from the Lord Ambassador Extraordinary from the King of Spaine: Which was this Day read; and was dated at London 26/16 November 1652.

Sheriff of Northampton.

Ordered, That Colonel Jones, Sheriff of the County of Northampton, have Liberty to come out of his County, upon his necessary Occasions, so far forth as may consist with the Safety of the County, and the Duty of his Place.

Sheriff of Leicester.

Resolved, That Marke Highlord, of Keythorpe, Esquire, be discharged from being Sheriff of the County of Leicester for the Year ensuing.

Resolved, That Abell Barker, of Keythorp, Esquire, be nominated and appointed Sheriff of the County of Leicester for the Year ensuing: And that the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal of England do issue forth a Commission for him to be Sheriff, accordingly.

Council of State.

Resolved, That the same Order be taken in the Election of the Council of State this Year, as was taken the last Year.

Ordered, That the Instructions given the last Year to the Council of State, be brought in on Friday next; and that the House do then take them into Consideration, the first Business.

Resolved, That To-morrow Sevennight, the House do proceed to the Election of the Council of State.

Judges of Admiralty.

Resolved, That, next after the Election of the Council of State, the House do proceed in the Election of the Judges of the Admiralty; and that their Election shall be in the same manner as the Council of State are chosen.

Settling the Judges.

Ordered, That, after the Election of the Council of State, and Judges of the Admiralty, the House do take into Consideration the Business touching the Judges of the Chancery, and Courts of Law, and the Judges of Wales, in what manner to settle them for the future.

Delinquents.

The House this Day resumed the Debate upon the List of the Persons whose especial Cases are reported from the Commissioners for Compounding, to the Committee of the Army.

The Case of Alexander Ratcliff, of Foxdenten in the County of Lancaster, Esquire, was this Day read.

The Question being put, That the Name of Alexander Ratcliff be inserted into this Bill;

It passed with the Negative.

The Certificate from the Commissioners for Compounding, touching Henry Bidlake of Bridstow in the County of Devon; Peter Philliott, of the Grange in the County of Kent; George Bagg, of; Rumney; and Peter Hatton; was this Day read.

Resolved, That the Name of Henry Bidlake, of Briddlestow in the County of Devon, be inserted into this Bill.

Resolved, That the Name of Peter Philliott, of the Grange in the County of Kent, be inserted into this Bill.

Resolved, That the Name of George Bagge, in the County of Devon, be inserted into this Bill.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Commissioners for Compounding, to state the Case of Rumney, an Infant; and who was the Delinquent, for whose Delinquency that Estate was sequestred; and certify the same to the Parliament To-morrow Morning.

Resolved, That the Name of Peter Hatton, of be inserted into this Bill.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Commissioners for Compounding, to examine and state the Case, as well touching Fitz-William Coningsby, the Father, as also touching the Delinquency of Coningsby, his Son; and certify the same to the Parliament, To-morrow Morning.

Resolved, That the Name of Francis Gyles, of be inserted into this Bill.

Resolved, That the Name of John Arundell, of be inserted into this Bill.

Resolved, That the Name of John Portlock, late of Cirencester in the County of Gloucester, deceased, be inserted into this Bill.

Resolved, That the Name of Pierce Mannaton, of Stoke Cleveland in the County of Cornwell, be inserted into this Bill.

Resolved, That the Name of Sir Thomas Dacre, of Levercost in the County of Cumberland, Knight, be inserted into this Bill.

The Case of Wm. Yarway of Kempston in the County of Bedford, Gentleman, was this Day read.

The Question being put, That the Name of Wm. Yarway, of Kempston in the County of Bedford, Gentleman, be inserted into this Bill.

It passed with the Negative.

Ordered, That the Sequestration of Wm. Yarway, of Kemston in the County of Bedford, for his Delinquency, be discharged.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Commissioners for Compounding, to certify the Case of Sir Edward Seymour to the Parliament, To-morrow Morning.

Resolved, That the Name of Thomas Brockholes, of Heaton in Com' Lancaster, be inserted in this Bill.
