Equality of Taxes.
THE House was this Day, according to former
Order, resolved into a Grand Committee, upon the
Debate formerly, touching Equality of Taxes.
Mr. Anlaby was called to the Chair.
Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.
Mr. Anlaby reports from the Grand Committee touching the Equality of Taxes; That the said Committee
have resolved, That the next Assessment throughout the
Nation shall be by a fixed Sum upon each respective
County.
That the fixed Sums upon each respective County
shall be levied by a Pound Rate upon the Estates Real
and Personal:
That these Votes be reported to the House: And that
the House be moved to appoint a Committee to consider
how the same may be made practicable, with the greatest
Equality.
Resolved, by the Parliament, That the next Assessment throughout the Nation shall be by a fixed Sum on
each respective County.
Resolved, by the Parliament, That the fixed Sums upon
each respective County shall be levied by a Pound Rate
upon the Estates Real and Personal.
Resolved, by the Parliament, That a Committee be
appointed, to consider how these Votes may be made
practicable, with the greatest Equality: And that it be
referred to the Committee of the Army.
