Union with Scotland.
RESOLVED, That the Report of Amendments to
the Bill for Union of Scotland shall be heard this
Day, the first Business.
Mr. St. Nicholas reports, from the Grand Committee,
Amendments to the Bill for Uniting Scotland into one
Commonwealth with England: Which were twice read:
and, upon the Question, severally agreed.
The Question being put, That the Clause, beginning
in the Fourth Line of the Fourth Folio, and ending with
the Word "Scotland," in the One-and-twentieth Line of
the same Folio, shall stand as it is now amended;
It passed in the Affirmative.
Resolved, That these Words be added and inserted in
the Nineteenth Line of the Third Folio, next after the
Word "Union;" "That all the publick Seals, Seals of
Office, and Seals of Bodies Civil or Corporate, in Scotland, which heretofore carried the Arms of the Kings of
Scotland, shall from henceforth, instead thereof, carry the
Arms of this Commonwealth; and, in lieu of any Motto
relating to the said Kings, the said Seals shall carry correspondent Words and Circumscriptions referring to this
Commonwealth."
Resolved, That the Clause in the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Lines, in these Words, "which import Vassalage
and Servitude, as also all other Clauses of," be amended
in these Words, "as also all other Clauses, which import Vassalage and Servitude, or."
Resolved, That this Bill be engrossed.
Estates in Scotland.
Resolved, That the Bill for Confiscation of Estates in
Scotland be brought in on Monday next.
Resolved, That the Quorum of the Committee for
Scotland be Five.
