Plymouth Ministers.

A BILL for the Promoting and more frequent Preaching of the Gospel, and for the Maintenance of Ministers in the Town of Plymouth in the County of Devon, was this Day read the First time.

Nat. Committee.

Ordered, That Sir Samuell Sleigh, Colonel Ralph Welden, Mr. Godfrey, Mr. Collins, be added to the Committee for Naturalization.

Peterson's Nat.

Ordered, That Captain John Peterson, born in Holland, be added to the last Bill for Naturalization.

Order amended.

Ordered, That the Name of Mr. Jenkins, being mistaken, be made Mr. Jenkinson, in the Order for Mr. Gresham's Committee.

Preston Rectory.

Colonel Mathews reports Amendments to the Bill for Disappropriating of the Rectory appropriate of Preston in the County of Suffolk, and for the Uniting and Consolidating of the said Rectory, and of the Vicarage of the Church of Preston aforesaid: Which were twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

Ordered, That this Bill, so amended, be ingrossed.

Petition from Nottingham, &c.

The humble Petition of divers of the Inhabitants of the Counties of Nottingham and Derby, was this Day read.

It being affirmed by divers Members, That Mr. James Chadwick, a Member of this House, against whom the Petition is exhibited, was present when the Petition was ordered to be read this Day, and manifested his Desire it might be committed;

Ordered, That this Petition be referred to a Committee, to examine the Particulars in the Petition; and report the Matter of Fact, with their Opinion, to the House: Viz. to Sir Rich. Sequestered Parsonages, &c.

Mr. Bedford reports Amendments to the Bill for quiet Enjoying of sequestered Parsonages and Vicarages by the present Incumbent: Which were twice read; and the said Amendments being severally put to the Question, were all severally agreed unto.

Ordered, That this Bill, thus amended, shall be ingrossed.

Marriages, &c.

Ordered, That the Bill for Marriages be read the Second time on Monday Morning next.

Wigston's Hospital.

Ordered, That the Bill for Wigston's Hospital be read the Third time To-morrow Morning.

Probate of Wills.

Ordered, That the Amendments to the Bill for Probate of Wills be reported on Tuesday Morning next.

Waller's Nat.

Ordered, That Margarett Waller Daughter of Edward Waller Esquire, be referred to the Committee for Naturalization, to be inserted into the last Bill committed to them.

Raising Money.

The House, according to former Order, was resolved into a Grand Committee, upon the Business of raising Four hundred thousand Pounds.

Mr. Downing took the Chair.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Downing reports from the Committee, as the Opinion of that Committee, That there be a Fine imposed for every Building which hath been erected and continued since the Day of, upon a new Foundation, in the Suburbs of the City of London, and within Ten Miles of the said City of London, not having Four Acres of Ground thereunto belonging.

That the House would be pleased to put the Business of the Monies due upon Subscriptions for Lands in Ireland, into a speedy Way of Examination.

That the House would give Leave to the Committee to sit again on Tuesday next.

Resolved, That the Blank in the First Vote reported, be filled up with the 24th of March 1620.

Resolved, That the House doth agree with the Committee that there be a Fine imposed for every Building which hath been erected and continued since the 24th Day of March 1620, upon a new Foundation, in the Suburbs of the City of London, and within Ten Miles thereof.

The Question being propounded, That the Fine to be imposed on these new Buildings shall be a Year's Rent, at the true improved Value of the Houses;

And the Question being put, That that Question be now put;

It passed in the Affirmative.

And the main Question being put; It was

Resolved, That the Fine to be imposed on those new Buildings shall be a Year's Rent, at the true improved Value of the Houses.

The Question being propounded, That it . . referred to a Committee, to prepare a Bill upon these Votes; and to take Care therein, how these Persons who shall pay these Fines, may be discharged from other Penalties of the Law;

Resolved, That these Words be added to the Question; "That there be a Clause in this Bill for prohibiting Buildings for the future, under a severer Penalty;"

The Question being put; It was

Resolved, That it be referred to a Committee, to prepare a Bill upon these Votes; and to take Care therein, how these Persons who shall pay these Fines, may be discharged from other Penalties of the Law: And that there be a Clause in this Bill, prohibiting Buildings for the future, under severer Penalties: Viz. to Mr. Robinson, Mr. Carew, Mr. Bodurda, Mr. Crook, Mr. Bampfeild, Sir Christofer Pack, Mr. Fowell, Mr. Lechmere, Mr. Downing, Sir Rich. Onsloe, Alderman Foote, Mr. Lloyd, Colonel Clerk, Attorney-General, Recorder of London, Sir John Reynolds, Mr. Noell, Mr. Holland, or any Three of them: And are to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, at Two of the Clock, in the Duchy-Chamber.

Ordered, That there be also a Clause, That all Houses which shall be new-builded on old Foundations, within the Cities of London, Westminster, and Ten Miles within the same, be built with Brick.

Resolved, That it be referred to the same Committee, to consider, and examine, What Monies are due upon the Subscriptions for Adventurers for Ireland; and to report the same to the House: With Power to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.

Resolved, That Major-General Butler, Colonel Twisleton, Major-General Berry, Mr. Berkley, Colonel Harvey, be added to the Committee for Mr. Gresham's Business.

Raising Money.

Resolved, That the Committee of the whole House, touching the Business of raising the Four hundred thousand Pounds, do sit on Tuesday next.
