Prayers.

Petition on Behalf of a Prisoner.

THE humble Petition of Ralph King, Citizen and Vintner of London, was this Day read; and was, on the Behalf of his Son William King committed Prisoner to Newgate, by Order of this House; that he might be enlarged.

Resolved, &c. That William King, now Prisoner in Newgate, by an Order of this House, be forthwith discharged from his Imprisonment.

Oxford Election.

Mr. Serjeant Waller reports from the Committee of Elections and Privileges, The State of the Case concerning the Double Return made of the Election of the Knights for the County of Oxford: That the Indenture, whereby Robert Jenkinson Esquire, and Henry Cary Viscount Falkland, are returned, is the true Return; and that the said Lord Falkland ought to sit in the House: And that the Indenture, whereby the said Robert Jenkinson and Sir Francis Norris, are returned, ought to be withdrawn.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with the said Committee, That the Indentures, whereby Robert Jenkinson Esquire and Henry Cary Viscount Falkland, are returned Knights to serve in this Parliament for the County of Oxford, is a good and a true Return; and that the said Henry Cary Viscount Falkland ought to sit in the House, as one of the Knights to serve for the said County.

Resolved, &c. That the Indenture, whereby the said Robert Jenkinson, and Sir Francis Norris Knight, are returned, be taken off the File, and withdrawn.

Horsham Election.

Mr. Serjeant Waller further reports from the Committee of Elections and Privileges, The State of the Case upon the several Returns for the Borough of Horsham in the County of Sussex, That the Sheriff of the said County of Sussex had issued forth a Precept to the Burgesses of the said Borough of Horsham, without naming the Bailiffs therein; whereupon the Borough proceeded to an Election; and had returned Three Burgesses, by Three several Indentures; namely, William Freeman, Henry Chowne, and John Fagg, Esquires: And that, upon Consideration had, by the Committee, of the Precept, and of the said several Returns, they were of Opinion, That the said Election, and Returns thereupon, were void: And that a new Writ be issued, for Electing of Two Burgesses to serve for the said Borough.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with the Committee, That the Election made by the Burgesses of the Borough of Horsham in the County of Sussex, of William Freeman, Henry Chowne, and John Fagg, Esquires, to be Burgesses for the said Borough; and the Return made of them, by Three several Indentures; is void.

Horsham Writ.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with the Committee, That a new Writ be issued, for the Election of Two Burgesses to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Horsham in the County of Sussex: And that Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Commonwealth in Chancery, for the Making-forth of a new Writ, for the said Election, accordingly.

Petition from a Person in Custody.

The humble Petition of Major Lewis Audley, Prisoner in the Tower, was this Day read; and was, That he might be enlarged from his Imprisonment in the Tower, where he remained a Prisoner, by Order of this House, during their Pleasure.

Resolved, &c. That Major Lewis Audley be discharged from his Imprisonment in the Tower; and that the Lieutenant of the Tower do discharge him of his Imprisonment, accordingly.

Recognizing Protector's Title.

The Order made on Tuesday last, for Reading of the Bill, intituled, An Act of Recognition of his Highness' Right and Title to be Protector and Chief-Magistrate of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland, and Ireland, and the Dominions and Territories thereunto belonging, this Day the Second time, was read.

Members summoned.

Resolved, &c. That the Serjeant at Arms do go, with the Mace, into Westminster-Hall, and to the several Courts of Justice there; and summon and require the Members of this House to give their Attendances forthwith in the House.

Recognizing Protector's Title.

The Bill, intituled, An Act of Recognition of his Highness' Right and Title to be Protector and ChiefMagistrate of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland, and Ireland, and the Dominions and Territories thereunto belonging, was this Day read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That this Debate upon this Bill be adjourned till To-morrow Morning, at Nine of the Clock; and be then proceeded in; and that nothing else do then intervene.
