Persons to attend.
ORDERED, That Letters be written to Lieutenant-General Ludlow, Colonel John Jones, and Mr. Miles Corbet, forthwith to give their Attendance on the Service of the Parliament; and also unto Colonel Mathew Tomlinson, to attend the Parliament; and to give an Account of their Management of Affairs in Ireland.
Ordered, That Mr. Solicitor Reynolds do prepare the said Letters; and that Mr. Speaker do sign and seal the same.
Irish Affairs.
Ordered, That it be referred to the Council of State, to consider how the Civil Power and Authority may be settled in Ireland.
Irish Army.
Ordered, That it be referred to the Council of State, to consider, how the Army in Ireland shall be governed; and what Commissioners are fit for the Government thereof; and report their Opinion therein to the Parliament.
Thanks to Officers.
Resolved, That this House doth approve of what hath been done by Sir Hardresse Waller, Sir Charles Coote, and Colonel Theophilus Jones, and other the Officers of the Army in Ireland, for the Service of the Parliament: And that the Thanks of this House be given to them by a Letter, for their good Service: And that Mr. Solicitor Reynolds do prepare the said Letter: And that Mr. Speaker do sign and seal the same with the Seal of the Parliament.
Absent Members.
Mr. John Corbet reports from the Committee to whom it was referred to consider of all Proceedings, and Orders, and Cases, touching absent Members, the said Proceedings, Orders, and Cases: Which were read.
Ordered, That the several Cases of the Lord Fairfax, and Sir Anthony Ashley Cooper, be referred to the Committee to whom this Business touching absent Members was referred; to examine Matter of Fact: With Power to examine Witnesses touching the same, if there be Cause; and to make Report thereof, with their Opinion touching their respective Cases, to the Parliament.
Ordered, That the several Cases of Mr. Nathaniel Bacon, and Mr. Francis Bacon, be referred to the same Committee; to examine Matter of Fact; and report the same to the Parliament forthwith.
