ACCORDING to former Order the Grand Committee sat upon the Ordinance concerning the grand
Level.
Mr. Reynolds in the Chair.
Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.
Upon Mr. Reynolds his Report, from the Grand Committee, to whom the Ordinance concerning the Fens is
referred, that the Grand Committee had adjourned till
Saturday next, Eight of Clock.
It is Ordered, That the Grand Committee of the whole
House do meet on Saturday next, at Eight of Clock, in
the same Manner as this Day, upon the former Order:
and Mr. Speaker not to take the Chair.
It is further Ordered, That the Petitions now delivered
in by Sir Symonds D'Ewes be referred to the Consideration
of this Committee.
Invalid Soldiers.
Ordered, That Fox Hall be prepared and made fit and
ready for the Reception and Relief of the sick and wounded
Soldiers, with what convenient Speed may be; giving
convenient Time to Mr. Nathaniell Stephens, in whose
Possession the said House now is, to remove his Goods.
Propositions to the King.
Ordered, That the Four Bills and Propositions sent to
the King to the Isle of Wight, together with the Fourteen
Articles of the Nine-and-thirty Articles mentioned in the
Proposition concerning Religion, and the Rules directing
upon what Points of Ignorance Men may not be admitted
to the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper, be forthwith
printed: And that it be referred to the Committee at
Derby House, to take care herein.
Army Accompts.
Ordered, That, Mr. Auditor Wilcox, Edward Short, and
John Haddock, or any Two of them, do forthwith, according to their best Skill, Discretion, and Judgment,
take, examine, state, and audite, the Accompts of the
Soldiers to be disbanded, that are now of the Army under
Sir Thomas Fairefax, for their Entertainment in the Service
of the Parliament, before they were under his Command
in this Army: Wherein they are to observe, as near as
they can, the Rules appointed by Ordinance of Parliament
the Twenty-eighth of May last, and to give Debentures
accordingly; deducting for Free Quarter, according to
the Ordinance of Parliament of the Four-and-twentieth
of December last. And
It is further Ordered, That the said Auditor Wilcox,
Edward Short, and John Haddock, or any Two of them,
do certify to the said Committee, What Debentures they
shall give out, as aforesaid; to the end they may be
registered, according to the Ordinance of Parliament in
that behalf.
The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.
Ditto.
Ordered, That the Committee of Accompts do deliver
to Mr. Leman, late one of the Treasurers of the Army
under the Earl of Manchester, his Books of Accompt; to
the end he may make Certificate, from time to time, as
Occasion shall require, to the Committee of Lords and
Commons for the Army, touching what Monies and Free
Quarter the Soldiers have received: And Mr. Leman is
after to return the said Books to the said Committee.
The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.
Committee for Petitions.
Ordered, That the Committee for Petitions be revived,
as to Mr. Pennoyer's Business, concerning the Tin Farmers: And that the Members of this House that are of
the Committee of the Navy be joined to the said Committee for Petitions, as to this Business.
Committee of Accompts.
The House being informed, that the Committee for
taking the Accompts of the whole Kingdom was at the
Door, desiring to be heard touching some Obstructions in
the Execution of the Trust reposed in them by this House;
. . . . were called in: And Mr. Glover, on the Behalf of
himself, and the rest of the said Committee, delivered
in a Certificate of their Grievances.
And which this House taking into Consideration;
After Debate thereupon had,
It is Ordered, That the Business touching Colonel Hacker,
and the Sub Committee of Leicester, be referred to the
Committee of Indemnity to re-examine the Business if they
see Cause; and to state the Matter of Fact; and report
the true State of the Business to this House. And
It is further Ordered, That it be also referred to the
said Committee, to stay the Proceedings of the said Colonel Hacker at Law, in the mean time, if they see Cause:
And that the said Colonel Hacker do perfect his Accompt
given in to the Committee of Accompts here for taking
the Accompts of the whole Kingdom.
Mr. Thorneton, &c.
Ordered, That the Business touching Mr. Thorneton and
Sir Frederick Hambleton, about Londonderry, be referred
to the Committee of Lords and Commons for Irish
Affairs, in the Star Chamber, to take the Charge put in
against the said Thornton; and to examine the same; and
state the Business; and report the same to the House.
Committee of Accompts.
Ordered, That this House doth declare, That the Committee for Accompts of this Kingdom, and their Sub
Committees, and their several and respective Officers, are
within the First Ordinance of Indemnity, for all Matters
that they have acted, or shall act, according to the several
Ordinances passed for taking the Accompts of the Kingdom: And that it be especially recommended to the
Committee of Indemnity, to relieve them therein,
accordingly.
