Prayers.

Earl of Danby, &c.

Ordered, That, on Monday Morning next, the first Business, and nothing to intervene, the House do proceed in the Report, formerly made, concerning the Earl of Danby and the Lady Gargrave.

Gloucester Ministers.

Ordered, That the Words, "the First of January 1647," in the Ordinance, Yesterday passed, for settling Ministers in the City of Gloucester, be made, "the First of May 1648."

Gen. Cromwell thanked.

According to the Order Yesterday made, Mr. Speaker gave Lieutenant General Cromwell the hearty Thanks of this House, for his liberal Offer, and Expressions of his great Affection to the Service of Ireland, Yesterday reported.

Message from Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edward Leech and Mr. Page;

The Lords have commanded us to return unto you the Ordinance for the Summer Fleet; which was formerly sent from their Lordships, and was returned, with some Alternations: That their Lordships adhere to those Commanders of Ships, as they first sent them to this House: and desire the Concurrence of this House therein: And to put this House in mind of an Order, their Lordships formerly sent to this House, for the Earl of Cleveland to have Leave to stay at his House, in the Country; and of an Order for Dr. Gibbons; which they desire this House to take into Consideration:-A Petition of the Lord Brereton:-A Petition of the Lady Beaumont; which their Lordships conceive reasonable; but refer to the Consideration of this House.

Navy.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Admiralty do give Order for the speedy setting forth to Sea the Ships whose Commanders are agreed by both Houses.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth adhere to Captain Edward Hall, to command the Antelop: And that a Conference be desired with the Lords upon it.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Admiralty and Cinque Ports, to settle the Business in relation to the Difference in Opinion between the Houses, touching the Commanders of the Ship Phenix, and the Recovery.

Private Petitions.

Ordered, That the Private Petitions, sent the other Day from the Lords, and the private Petitions now delivered at this Message, be figured in Rank; and read in Order, after the Petitions that are already delivered in to this House.

Answer to Lords.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has considered their Lordships Message; and will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Invalid Soldiers.

A Letter from the Lord General, of 22 Martii 1647, concerning some Propositions made to him by some Gentlemen, in relation to the Relief of maimed Soldiers, and Widows, was this Day read.

Ordered, That this Letter be referred to the Consideration of Major General Skippon, Major General Browne, Mr. Knightly, Sir Henry Mildmay, Mr. Holland, Mr. Lisle, or any Three of them: Who are to hear the Persons that make the said Propositions; and to consider of the said Propositions; and to report their Opinions, What they think fit to be done upon it.

Sutton's Hospital.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee appointed for Hospitals (which is hereby revived, and have Power to sit de die in diem), to consider of an Ordinance, and bring it in, for the Regulating of Sutton's Hospital.

Officers Claims.

Ordered, That the List, made by Mr. Wilcox, of the Names of such Officers who have received Tickets, by virtue of the Ordinance of the Lords and Commons, dated the Sixteenth Day of June 1647, be referred to the Committee wherein Sir Thomas Dacres is in the Chair, to examine, Whether the Persons named in the said List be any of those Persons who were engaged in the Tumults, or in Listings, about July or August last; or whether any of the Persons, contained in the said List, are contained in the Five Qualifications formerly committed to the said Committee; that so Care be taken they be not twice paid: And that, upon the Certificate of the said Committee, Mr. Greenhill, Mr. Pococke, and the rest of the Treasurers of Christ Church, do forthwith pay to each of the said Officers and Soldiers such proportionable Part of the Sum of Nine thousand One hundred Pounds, formerly charged upon the Receipts of Goldsmiths Hall, for Indigent Persons, as the said Treasurers shall receive Order from the said Committee: And that the Acquittance of the Treasurers abovesaid, or any Two of them, shall be a sufficient Discharge to the Treasurers at Goldsmiths Hall, for the said Sum, or any Part thereof: And it is further Ordered, That Elizabeth Elliott, the Wife of Major Alexander Elliot, be inserted into the said List, the having been sick, when the former List was delivered in.

Ordered, That Lieutenant General Cromwell, and such other Members of this House, as have Lists of Officers, Soldiers, or indigent Persons, do deliver in the said Lists to the Committee wherein Sir Thomas Dacres hath the Chair, or any Lists of any Persons that were in the Tumults, or inlisted, about July or August last.

Dutch Officers.

The humble Petition of the Dutch Officers, in the Behalf of themselves, of divers Widows, and fatherless Children, was this Day read.

Ordered, That Lieutenant General Cromwell do acquaint the Lord General with the Order of the Fourteenth of May 1647, made in Satisfaction of the Dutch Officers, the now Petitioners.

Hart's Petition.

Ordered, That the Petition of Captain James Hart, and the whole Matter thereupon depending, be referred to the Committee at Derby House; to examine the Business, and to take care to prevent any Danger that may ensue thereupon.

Army Arrears.

The humble Petition of the Officers and Soldiers of Major General Browne's Brigade, late belonging to Abbingdon and Redding, was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Army, to state and audite the Accompts and Arrears of Major General Browne's Brigade, according to the Rules and Directions observed in the auditing and stating the Accompts of other Officers and Soldiers of the Kingdom.

Navy Loan.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Navy, to treat with the Commissioners of the Customs, for the Loan of Thirty thousand Pounds, upon the Credit of the Customs, for Supply of the immediate pressing Necessities of the Navy, upon the Coming in of the Winter Guard: And, if this Sum cannot be had of them, they have Power to treat with such other Person or Persons, as they shall think fit, for the Loan of the said Sum of Thirty thousand Pounds, upon the Credit of the Customs; and to make Report of their Proceedings herein, and of such Propositions as shall be offered to them, to the House with all Speed.

Raising Money.

Ordered, That the additional Ordinance for raising Fifty thousand Pounds, for the speedy Relief of Ireland, and reducing the Rebels there, be read on Monday Morning next, at Eight a Clock.

Articles.

A Letter from the Lord General, from Queenes-street, of 24 Martii 1647, touching Articles, was this Day read.

Ordered, That the House do proceed upon the Report touching the Articles of Oxford, and other Articles, and likewise upon the Report touching the Earl of Ormond, on Tuesday Morning next, the first Business; and nothing to intervene.

Receiver General of Yorksheire.

Sir Henry Mildmay makes Report from the Committee of the Revenue, touching Mr. Thomas Bland and Mr. John Bland, Receiver General of Yorksheire.

And, upon Debate had, and Consideration taken, of the said Report;

It is Resolved, &c. That the Sum of Six thousand Pounds is due to the Parliament from Thomas and John Bland; Receiver General Yorksheire.

Resolved, &c. That the Sum of Six thousand Pounds be charged upon and paid out of the Estate of Thomas and John Bland.

Resolved, &c. That the whole Office of the Receiver General of Yorksheire is forfeited, as to Thomas and John Bland both.

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee of the Revenue, to take effectual Course for the bringing in the said Sum of Six thousand Pounds.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Walter Fowke be constituted and appointed Receiver General of Yorksheire, in the place of Thomas and John Bland, formerly in that Place: And that Mr. Solicitor do prepare and bring in an Ordinance accordingly.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Revenue, to take care the said Money be levied, and brought in, to the Use of the State.

Relief of Tenants.

Ordered, That the Committee formerly appointed to bring in an Ordinance for the Relief of Tenants against their Landlords, who have adhered to the Forces of the Enemy, or any Four of them, are ordered to sit, de die in diem, for perfecting and bringing in the said Ordinance with Speed: And the Care thereof, more particularly, is committed to Mr. Swinfen.
