Coventry Assessments.

RESOLVED, &c. That John Hales and Thomas Bassnett Esquires be added to the Committee of the City, and County of the City, of Coventry, for putting in Execution the last Ordinance for Assessments, for maintaining the Forces under the Command of the Lord General.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

The Lord's Day, &c.

An Additional Ordinance for the more strict Observation of the Lord's Day, and of other Days, which are or shall be, by publick Authority, set apart for Fasting and Humiliation, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto the Committee that brought it in; with the Addition of Mr. Nath. Stephens, Sir Peter Wentworth, Sir Walter Erle, Mr. Tate, Mr. Lane, Colonel John Venne, Mr. Doddridge, Mr. Greene, Mr. Edw. Stephens, Mr. Weaver, Mr. Selden, Mr. Samuell Browne, Mr. Knightley, Mr. Marten, Mr. Crew, Mr. Harrington, Mr. Crowther, Mr. Annesley, Mr. Whittacree, Mr. Aiskew: And the Care of this Business is more particularly referred to Mr. Samuell Browne: And they are to meet upon it this Afternoon, at Two of the Clock, in the Inner Star Chamber.

Message to Lords.

Mr. Annesley carried to the Lords for their Concurrence, an Order for the Abatement of Three hundred Pounds, Part of the Fine for the Delinquency of Sir Richard Vivian Knight: Order for Sir Arthur Hesilrige to be added to all the Committees and Commissioners of Sequestration in the Four Northern Counties: Order to give Power to the Commissioners for Ireland to assure such Soldiers in Munster, as shall conform to the Commands of the Parliament, an Act of Indemnity: Order, That Care be taken for satisfying the Arrears of the Soldiery in Munster: Order for John Hales and Thomas Basnett Esquires to be added to the Committee of the County, and City of the County of Coventry, for Execution of the Ordinance for Assessments for the Army: Order for the Commissioners employed into the Province of Munster in Ireland: Order for giving the said Commissioners Instructions: Order for the Commissioners employed into Lemster, &c.: Order for Instructions to the said Commissioners: Order for continuing the former weekly Allowance to the Marquis of Winton, &c.

He likewise carried several Ordinances, for pardoning the Delinquencies, and discharging the Sequestrations, of William Cockaine, Philip Westcott, George Stoakeley, Matthew Robinson the Father, and Matth. Robinson the Son, John Dalston, Sherington Talbott, Henry Townsend, Sir Geo. Wentworth, and Michaell Wentworth, his Son, Sir Henry Spiller, Michaell Grigg, Sir Roger Cooper, Geo. Nevill, and Sir Gervas Nevile, Sir Edward Bathurst, Sir Hugh Calveley, Charles Cockaine, Sir Thomas Mackworth, Sir Edward Morgan, Wm. Saltmarsh, William Lord Brereton, Sir Edward Rodney, William Kent, Edward Rookwood, Hugh Cartwright the Father, and Hugh the Son, Rich. Irish Commissioners.

Resolved, &c. That Sir Robert Knight be added to the Commissioners appointed to go to Lemster, and other Parts in Ireland.

Sir R. King's Petition.

Ordered, That the Petition of Sir Robert King, Knight, be read, the first Business, To-morrow Morning, without any other Business intervening.

Preacher appointed.

Ordered, That Sir Peter Wentworth give Notice to Mr. Symonds, that he is desired to preach before the House the next Fast Day, in the place and stead of Mr. Marshall, who was formerly appointed for that Purpose.

Relief of Ireland.

Ordered, That the additional Ordinance for the Relief of Ireland be read To-morrow Morning, the First Business.

Trade.

Ordered, That this House do take into Consideration the Business concerning the Advance of Trade of the Kingdom, To-morrow Morning.

Admiralty.

Ordered, That the Ordinance touching the Jurisdiction of the Admiralty, be read To-morrow Morning.

Walloone Church.

The humble Petition of the Eldership of the French or Walloone Church, in the City of Canterbury, was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That the said Petition of the Eldership of the French or Walloone Church, in the City of Canterbury, be referred to the Committee of plundered Ministers; to call before them the Parties; and to send for Parties, Papers, Witnesses, and Records; and to examine the whole Matter of Fact: And the said Committee is hereby authorized and required to hear, and finally to determine, the said Business. And

It is further Ordered, That the Mayor and Justices of Peace of Canterbury, and the Justices of Peace of the County of Kent, and other Officers and Ministers there, respectively, do take care, that the Peace of the said Church be preserved, and not interrupted: And that the said Church do, in the mean time, enjoy the Privileges granted to the same, and the quiet Usage of the Government formerly settled.

Answer from Lords.

Mr. Annesley brings Answer from the Lords, That their Lordships do agree to the Votes for the Commissioners appointed to go into Munster and Lemster: To the Orders giving Power to the said Commissioners touching an Act of Indemnity, and the Soldiers Arrears in Munster: To the Order for the Committee of the Affairs of Ireland, at Derby House to give Instructions to the said Commissioners: To the Order touching the Marchioness of Winchester: To the Order for Sir Arthure Hesilrige to be added to all the Committees and Commissioners for Sequestrations in the four Northern Counties: To the Order for John Hales and Thomas Basnet Esquires to be added to the Committee of Coventry, for Execution of the Ordinance for Assessments for the Army: To all the rest, they will send Answers by Messengers of their own.

Incest, &c.

An Ordinance for the suppressing of Incest, and incestuous Marriages, Adultery, and Fornication, was this Day read the First time; and ordered to be read the Second time on this Day Sevennight.

Information against Strude.

An Information against Colonel William Strode, for Words spoken by him in Candlemas Term was Twelve Months, was this Day read.

The Question was propounded, That Notice be given to Colonel William Strode, That he do forthwith attend the House:

And the Question being put, Whether this Question shall be now put;

It passed with the Affirmative.
