Ordered, That Colonel Thomas Hatcher, a Member of this House, have Leave to go into the Country.

Navy.

A Letter from the Vice Admiral Colonel Thomas Rainborowe, of 16 Aprilis 1648, was this Day read.

Ordered, That the Lieutenants, and other Officers of the Fleet, do forthwith repair to their respective Charges: And that the Committee of the Admiralty and Cinque Ports do take care, and give Order, That the said Lieutenants do forthwith repair to their respective Charges, accordingly: And that, if any of them shall neglect or refuse to repair to their Charges, accordingly, that it be referred to the Committee of the Admiralty and Cinque Ports, to substitute others in their places.

It is further Ordered, That the Letter from the Vice Admiral, of 16 Aprilis 1648, be referred to the Consideration of the said Committee.

Cotton's Delinquency.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Four hundred Fourscore and Eight Pounds, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of Edward Cotton, of Showbrooke in the County of Devon, Clerk: His Offence, That he adhered unto and assisted the Forces raised against the Parliament: He rendered upon the Articles of Exeter: His Estate, in Fee, per Annum, Ninety Pounds; in old Rents, per Annum, Three Pounds; for One Life, per Annum, Ninety Pounds; personal Estate, in Goods, Fifty-eight Pounds; in Debts, Four hundred and Seventy-six Pounds Ten Shillings: And he owes Seven hundred and Forty-one Pounds: His Fine, at a Tenth, is Four hundred Fourscore and Eight Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Edward Cotton of Showbrooke in the County of Devon, Clerk, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Sir O. Cromwell's Sequestration.

Ordered, That the Sequestration of the Estate, real and personal, of Sir Oliver Cromwell, of Ramsey Moore in the County of Huntingdon, Knight of the Bath, be forthwith, and is hereby discharged and taken off: And all Committees, Solicitors of Sequestrations, and all other Persons whom it doth or may concern, are hereby required and enjoined to take notice of this Order, and to comply therewith, and yield ready and full Obedience thereunto.

Deputy Registers of Chancery.

Ordered, That the Lords Concurrence be desired to the Order formerly granted, That Rowland Wilson and Ralph Hall be Deputy Registers of the Chancery.

Message to Lords.

Sir Walter Erle carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, the Order for renewing the Commission for hearing Causes in Chancery: Ordinance concerning Lord Inchequin: Order for Fifty Pounds for Major Elsynge, and Thirty Pounds for Captain Chandler: Order, That Samuell Dunch, and others, be added to the Committee for Assessments in Com' Berks: Order for John Hales, and others, to be added to the several Committees for Assessments in Ireland: Order for Major Harley to be added to the Committee in Com. Hereford: Order for declaring null and void the Commissions granted to the Lord Inchequin: Ordinance for One thousand Pounds per Annum to each of the now Commissioners of the Great Seal out of the Receipts of the Customs: And an Order for Mr. Wilson and Mr. Hall to be Deputy Registers of the Chancery.

Sir Walter Erle was also to put the Lords in mind of an Order, formerly sent to their Lordships for their Concurrence, for restraining the Printing of Pamphlets.

Milford Haven.

Ordered, That Captain Jordon Commander of the Expedition, now lying in King Road, do forthwith go to Milford Haven, with the Ship, Pieces, Ammunition, and Provisions designed for that Place, notwithstanding any Order he hath received to the Contrary: And that an Express hereof be forthwith sent away with this Order: And that Mr. Frost do take care, that the said Express be forthwith sent away accordingly.

Great Seal.

An Ordinance for Payment of a Thousand Pounds per Annum to each of the now Commissioners of the Great Seal, out of the Receipts of the Customs, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords, for their Concurrence.

Lord Inchequin.

An Ordinance for declaring null and void all Commissions, Orders, and Instructions granted to the Lord Inchequin, by Authority of Parliament, was this Day read the First and Second time; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Navy.

Mr. Lisle reports from the Committee of the Admiralty and Cinque Ports, A List of the Fleet appointed for this Summer's Expedition, together with a Report, Where they now are, and which of them are now in Harbour, and how soon they will be fitted out to the Seas: A List of the Ships conceived fit for the Guard of Ireland and Milford: An Estimate of such necessary Provisions as of Necessity must be had to supply the Magazine of the Navy: The which were all this Day read.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth concur with the Committee of the Admiralty and Cinque Ports, in appointing Nineteen Ships, to be employed for the Defence and Preservation of the Coasts of Ireland and Wales; and in leaving it to the Vice Admiral to appoint the Ships that shall be employed upon these Coasts accordingly.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth declare, That the Vice Admiral upon the Coasts of Ireland is, and ought to be, subordinate, and to receive and obey all such Orders, Directions, and Commands, as he shall receive from Colonel Rainborough, the Vice Admiral of England.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with the Committee of the Admiralty and Cinque Ports, in respiting the Business touching Captain Penne, until further Information.

Navy Loan.

Sir Henry Vane junior reports the several Answers of the present Commissioners of the Customs to the Loan of Thirty thousand Pounds for the Service and Use of the Navy, upon the Credit of the Customs of 28 Martii, 8 and 10 Aprilis 1648: The which were all read; as likewise the Orders and Votes of the House of 25 Martii, 4 and 15 Aprilis, 1648.

Comm rs of Customs.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth adhere to their former Votes and Orders of the House, made 4 Aprilis 1648; enjoining, That from henceforth the Commissioners of the Customs shall be, stand and be charged with the Monies received in the Out Ports, Forty Days after every Month, unless they can shew good Cause to the contrary: And that the Allowing of the said Cause, to be shewed, from time to time, by the Commissioners of the Customs, be referred to the Committee of the Navy: And the said Committee has hereby authority to allow thereof, as they shall see Cause: And the House doth Declare and Order, That all the Persons that hereafter shall be Commissioners of the Customs, shall be liable hereunto.

Pendennis Castle.

Ordered, That Pendennis Castle be forthwith delivered up to Sir Hardres Waller, or such other Person or Persons as he shall appoint to receive the same. And

It is further Ordered, That the Captain, Lieutenant, and Soldiers in the said Castle, upon the Delivery up of the said Castle, shall be indemnified in what they have formerly done.

Answer from Lords.

Sir Walter Erle brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to all the Orders and Ordinances carried by him: As to the Order, formerly sent for their Concurrence, for restraint of the Printing of Pamphlets, they will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Navy Loan.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Navy do meet this Afternoon; and send for the Commissioners of the Customs, and demand and receive their Answer, touching the Loan of Thirty thousand Pounds, for the Use and Service of the Navy: And that they do report the said Answer on Wednesday Morning next, the first Business: And that then the Paper, now reported, concerning the Provisions to be made for furnishing the Navy Magazines, be considered of, now tendered.

Western Circuit.

Ordered, That Mr. Serjeant Wilde do make his Reports, touching some Proceedings in the Western Circuit.

Pendennis Castle.

Mr. Bond carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, The Order for Delivery up of Pendennis Castle to Sir Hardres Waller.

Mr. Bond brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the said Order by him carried to the Lords.

Strangwaies' Petition.

Ordered, That the Petition of Sir John Strangwaies be read, and taken into Consideration, on Wednesday Morning next.

Seditious Sermon.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of plundered Ministers, to examine the Business touching the seditious and scandalous Sermon preached in Graies Inn Chapel, the last Lord's Day in the Evening: And the said Committee are required and authorized to send for Mr. Thomas Snosdall, of Greyes Inn, who recommended Mr. Snell or Snelling, who preached the said Sermon; and to apprehend the said Mr. Snosdale, and secure him, if they see Cause, until he produce the said Mr. Snell or Mr. Snelling: And the said Committee are also required and authorized to apprehend and commit the said Mr. Snell or Mr. Snelling.
