Prayers.

Court for trying the King.

MR. Garland reports the Amendments to the Ordinance for erecting an High Court of Justice, for Tryal of the King.

Which were this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, agreed unto: And

It is Ordered, That the said Ordinance be forthwith ingrossed.

Ordered, That no Copy of the Ordinance touching the King be made, or delivered forth.

Door shut.

Ordered, That the Door of this House be shut: And that the Members of this House do forbear to go out of the House.

Committee to prepare Business.

Colonel Marten, Mr. Lisle, Lieutenant General Cromwell, Mr. Millington, Commissary General Ireton, Mr. Miles Corbett, Mr. Serjeant Thorpe, Mr. * Challener, Mr. Love, Mr. Goodwyn, Mr. Richard Sallwey, Mr. Scott, Mr. Garland, Sir John Danvers;

This Committee, or any Three of them, are to withdraw; and to prepare and present to this House, the Form of Two Questions, upon the whole Debate now had.

Persons committed.

Ordered, That Sir Robert Steward do stand committed, as a Delinquent, to the Serjeant at Arms that attends this House, notwithstanding the former Bail by him given: And that the said Serjeant at Arms take him into his Custody accordingly.

Seeluded Members.

Mr. Serjean Thorpe reports the Answer of the General Council of Officers for the Army under his Excellency Thomas Lord Fairfax, to the Demand of the said House, concerning the late Securing or Secluding of some Members thereof.

Courts of Justice.

Ordered, That the Committee touching Settling of Matters in a Course of Justice, do sit this Afternoon; and make their Report To-morrow Morning.

Settling the Government.

Resolved, &c. That the Commons of England, in Parliament assembled, do Declare, That the People are, under God, the Original of all just Power:

And do also Declare, that the Commons of England, in Parliament assembled, being chosen by, and representing the People, have the Supreme Power in this Nation:

And do also Declare, That whatsoever is enacted, or declared for Law, by the Commons, in Parliament assembled, hath the Force of Law; and all the People of this Nation are concluded thereby, although the Consent and Concurrence of King, or House of Peers, be not had thereunto.

Customs.

Ordered, That the Commissioners of the Customs do lend the Sum of Six thousand Pounds for the Use of the Navy, upon the Security of the petty and the old Customs: And that the Ordinance made to that Purpose, be made an Order of this House.

Settling the Government.

Mr. Martin, Mr. Lisle, Mr. Challener, Mr. Richard Salwey, Sir Henry Mildmay, Commissary General Ireton, Lieutenant General Cromwell, Mr. Scott;

This Committee, or any Three of them, do prepare a Declaration concerning the Proceedings of the House upon the late Votes; and present the same to the House forthwith. The particular Care hereof is referred to Mr. Challener.

Ordered, That Mr. Challener do bring in the Declaration, concerning the Repealing of Votes, To-morrow Morning.

Secluded Members.

Ordered, That the Answer of the General Council of Officers of the Army, to the Demand of this House, concerning the Securing of some Members of this House, be read To-morrow Morning.
