Relief under Articles.
AN Act for the Relief of all such Persons as have
been, are, or shall be, sued, molested; or damnified, contrary to Articles or Conditions granted in Time
of War, was this Day read the First and Second time;
and, upon the Question, committed unto Mr. Reynolds,
Mr. John Corbett, Sir Peter Wentworth, Sir William
Strickland, Commissary General Ireton, Serjeant Thorpe,
Mr. Edwards, Mr. Myles Corbett, Sir Wm. Brewerton,
Sir James Harrington, Colonel Purefoy, Sir John Bourchier, Sir William Allanson, Mr. Lechmere, Mr. Pierpoint,
Colonel Venn, Mr. Ashe, Mr. Scott, Mr. Westhorpe,
Colonel Wayte, Mr. Leman, Mr. Garland; or any Five of
them: And this Committee are to meet this Afternoon, at
Two of the Clock, in the Exchequer Chamber: And the
said Committee are to present to this House Names of
Commissioners to be inserted into the said Act.
Stile in Negociations.
Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do stile himself Speaker of
the Parliament of England, in all Letters to be written to
Foreign States.
Murder of Dr. Dorislaus.
Ordered, That these Words; viz. "so proceed;" be
added: And that the Word "Members" be amended,
and made "Numbers," in the Act touching the Murder
of Dr. Dorislaus.
Journals.
Ordered, That Mr. Miles Corbet, Mr. John Corbet,
Mr. Lechmere, Mr. Long, Mr. Garland, Mr. Rigby,
Commissary General Ireton, Mr. Thomas Challener, Mr.
James Challener, Colonel Martin, or any Two of them,
shall be a Committee; to supervise and peruse, from time
to time, the Acts and Orders of Parliament; and see the
same be rightly entered.
Army Accompts.
Commissary General Ireton reports an Act for the more
speedy examining and stating the Accompt of Officers and
Soldiers: Which was this Day read the First and Second
time; and upon the Question, committed to the same
Committee to whom the Bill concerning Articles is referred: And that Colonel Charles Fleetwood, Colonel
Jones, Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Peirpointe, Colonel George
Fleetwood, Mr. Burrell, Major Salway, Mr. Wm. Stephens, Mr. Dove, be added to that Committee.
Provost Marshal.
Resolved, &c. That there be a Provost Marshal appointed for the City of Westminster, and within the late
Lines of Communication on this Side the River of Thames.
Ordered, That Zachary Bishopp be, and is hereby,
nominated and appointed Provost Marshal for the City of
Westminster, and within the late Lines of Communication:
And that he have the same Powers for those Parts, as the
Provost Marshal for the City of London hath or may
lawfully exercise: And that he do execute the said Place
accordingly.
Ordered, That Captain Munck, of Southwark, be Provost Marshal for all Places on the other Side the Water,
within the late Lines of Communication, excepting the
City of London, and Liberties: And that he have Power
to put in Execution and Exercise all such Powers and
Authorities as the Provost Marshal of the City of London,
within the said City and Liberties, now hath, and may
lawfully exercise.
Marriages, &c.
Ordered, That Colonel Rigby do report the Bill touching Marriages, &c. on Monday Morning, the First Business.
Ministers Maintenance.
Ordered, That the Act for Ministers be reported on
Tuesday next, the first Business.
Dutch Officers.
Ordered, That the Report of the Dutch Officers be
made on Wednesday next.
