Prayers.
Canon Row.
ORDERED, by the Parliament, That it be referred to
the Committee of the Revenue, to send for the Parties
whom it concerneth, and to treat with them about enlarging the publick Passage into Canon Row: With
Power, if they see Cause, to agree with the Parties, and
buy out their Title, that there may be a convenient Way
left there to pass to Westminster Hall, for the Advantage
of the Publick: And the said Committee of the Revenue are injoined to meet for that Purpose this Afternoon:
And all Parties whom it doth concern, and their Workmen, are required to forbear to proceed any further in
the Buildings there, in the mean time.
Sir J. Harrington's Claims.
The humble Petition of Sir James Harrington Knight,
a Member of this House, was this Day read.
Ordered, by the Parliament, That a Lease be made for
Eleven Years, to Sir James Harrington, of certain Lands
in the County of Rutland, late belonging to the Duke of
Buckingham, Parcel of the Forest of Leefields, disforested
by King James, whereof he had formerly a Lease, which
expired the Twenty-fifth Day of March last, under the
Great Seal of England; in Consideration of the Thousand
Pounds, owing to the said Sir James Harrington, upon
the Publick Faith; under the yearly Rent of Five Pounds,
payable to the State.
Ordered, by the Parliament, That it be referred to the
Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal, and Mr. Attorney General, to examine the Debt of One thousand
Pounds, mentioned in the said Petition to be due unto
Sir James Harrington, upon the Publick Faith: And, if
they find the same true, and that the Premises are now
let to him by the Committee of Rutland, for the Rent of
One hundred and Fifty Pounds for One Year, that then
Mr. Attorney General be, and is hereby, required and
authorized to prepare a Lease of the said Premises, to be
passed under the Great Seal of England, unto the said Sir
James Harrington, for the Term of Eleven Years, to
commence upon the Twenty-fifth of March last; in consideration of the Sum of One thousand Pounds, so due to
him upon the Publick Faith; reserving the yearly Rent
of Five Pounds payable to the State: And, upon delivering up his Bills, for the said One thousand Pounds, to the
Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal of England, they
are hereby authorized and required to pass the said Lease
under the Great Seal of England accordingly.

Business be reported To-morrow Morning.
Mayor of Hull.
A Letter from the Mayor and Aldermen of Hull, from
Hull, of 2 Octobris 1649, touching their Election of
Mr. Pelham, a Member of this House, Mayor of the said
Town, was this Day read.
Ordered, by the Parliament, That the Debate of this
Business be taken up on Tuesday next: And that Mr.
Pelham do, upon Notice, attend the House at that Time:
And that the Town of Hull shall receive no Prejudice
hereby, in respect of their Charter or Liberties, for not
swearing the new Mayor To-morrow: And that a Letter be sent to the present Mayor, to let him know,
that this House doth expect, that he do take care of the
Government of the Town, until the new Mayor be
sworn.
Recorder of Hull.
Ordered, by the Parliament, That it be inserted into
the Letter, that Mr. Baron Thorpe cannot continue Recorder: And that the Town do proceed to the Election
of a new Recorder; wherein they are to have care to
chuse such a Person, that hath expressed a constant and
publick Affection to the Parliament.
Ordered, by the Parliament, That Sir Henry Vane
junior do prepare a Letter, containing the Substance of
these Votes: And that Mr. Speaker do sign the same
accordingly.
Publick Accompts.
Resolved, &c. That George Crompton be made one of
the Treasurers in the Act for the Accompts of the Commonwealth, instead of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Crompton: And that Sir James Harrington do bring in an Act
for that Purpose.
Mr. Weston.
Ordered, by the Parliament, That the Act concerning
Mr. Weston be reported, the first Business, on Friday next.
Army in Essex.
Colonel Ven reports from the Committee of the Army,
according to an Order of the Nineteenth of January
last, touching Satisfaction to be given to the Well-affected
of the County of Essex, for their Disbursements for
Provisions for the Army.
The Question be . . . propounded, That it be referred
to the Committee of the Army, to consider what Agreements were made by that Committee, or any appointed
by them, with the Gentlemen of Essex, touching Provisions for the Army; that, according to the Power to them
formerly given, they do see the said Agreements performed
accordingly;
The Question being put, That that Question be now
put;
It passed in the Affirmative.
And the main Question being put;
It was Resolved, by the Parliament, That it be referred
to the Committee of the Army, to consider what Agreements were made by that Committee, or any appointed
by them, with the Gentlemen of Essex, touching Provisions for the Army; that, according to the Power to
them formerly given, they do see the said Agreements
performed accordingly.
Navy, &c.
Ordered, by the Parliament, That the Business of the
Navy and Excise be reported on Friday next.

Ordered, That Mr. James Challoner do make Report
of the Northern Business on Tuesday next.
Publick Accompts.
Sir James Harrington reports an Act for making George
Crompton one of the Treasurers, in the Act for Taking
and Receiving the Accompts of the Commonwealth, in
the place of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Crompton.
Which was this Day read the First time; and, upon
the Question, passed.
Grundy's Claims.
Colonel Fleetwood reports from the Committee, the
Case of Captain Ralph Grundy.
Resolved, by the Parliament, That a Hundred Pounds
be given unto Captain Ralph Grundy, out of Haberdashers Hall, for his present Subsistence: And that the
Committee at Haberdashers Hall be authorized and required to give Warrant to the Treasurers for Payment
thereof to the said Captain Grundy: And the Acquittance or Acquittances of the said Captain Grundy shall
be a sufficient Discharge to the said Treasurers, for the
said Hundred Pounds.
Ordered, by the Parliament, That it be referred back
to the Committee that brought in this Report, to consider
what Reparation is sit to be given to Captain Grundy,
in respect of his said Damage, and out of whose Estate;
having Respect therein to the States of the Persons who
did him the Wrong and Damage: And that Colonel
Jones be added to that Committee: And that the Care
hereof be especially recommended to Colonel Jones.
