Examinations of Coke.
Ordered, That the Report from the Council of State,
touching the Design of Mr. Coke, and others, be made
on Tuesday Morning next.
The House resumed the Debate upon the Report made
Yesterday by Mr. Say; and upon the Amendments to
the Bill for Sale of the Estates of several Delinquents.
A Proviso was this Day tendered to the Act for Sale
of several Delinquents Estates; "That the said Act, or
any thing therein contained, doth not, or shall, extend,
or shall impower any Person or Persons in this Act named
to make Sale of the Manors, Lands, and Tenements,
hereafter mentioned, or any of them; that is to say, the
Manor of Monmouth and Wyesham, in the County of Monmouth; the Manor of Pellenny, the Manors of Purcasseck
and Trellocks Grange, in the said County of Monmouth;
the Demesnes of the Manors or Castles of Grosmont, Skenfreth, Monmouth, and Whitecastle, or any of them; the
Manors of Bettus and Per Lloyd, in the said County of
Monmouth; the Manor of Crookham, in the County of
Berks; the Manor of Kendall, in the County of Westmorland; the Manor of Shobdon, in the County of Hereford;
until the Parliament give further Order: Which said Manors, Castles, and Demesnes, were heretofore the Castles,
Manors, and Demesnes of Edward Earl of Worcester; and
are now seized on, and sequestred, for the High Treason
of the said Earl, committed against the Parliament:
Which was this Day read the First and Second Time.
Resolved, That these Words, "until the Parliament
give further Order," be added to this Proviso.
Resolved, by the Parliament, That this Proviso, so
amended, be Part of the Bill.
A Proviso was tendered, "That this Act, or any thing
therein contained, shall not extend to the common Hall,
or Yard, commonly called the Castle and Castle-yard, of
Okeham in the County of Rutland, belonging lately to the
Duke of Buckingham; which is, and heretofore hath been,
the publick Place for the Holding of the General Assizes
and Sessions in that County; but be and remain for the
accustomed Use of the said County of Rutland:" Which
was this Day read the First time.
Resolved, That this Proviso be now read the Second
And it was read the Second time, accordingly.
Resolved, That this Proviso be Part of the Bill.
