Prayers.

Writ to be issued.

ORDERED, That Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a Writ for Electing of a Member to serve in the stead of Mr. Serjeant Keeling.

Turnor's Petition.

A Petition of Robert Turnor was read.

Ordered, That this Petition be referred to the Committee of the King's Majesty's Revenue; to examine the Matter of the Petition; and report their Opinions therein to the House.

Officers of the House.

Ordered, That all such Members of this House as have not yet paid in the Money which, by Order made the Sixteenth Day of May 1662, they were to have paid, to be distributed amongst the Officers attending this House, do forthwith pay the same into the Hands of Mr. Marsh, Deputy to the Clerk of this House: And that all the Members of this House do now anew contribute and pay for the Use of the Officers attending this House, every Knight of the Shire Ten Shillings, and every Burgess, Citizen, and Baron of Cinque Port, the Sum of Five Shillings apiece, within a Sevennight next, into the Hands of the said Mr. Marsh, to be distributed amongst the said Officers, in such Manner and Proportion as Mr. Speaker shall direct.

Marshalsea.

A Bill concerning the Court of Marshalsea was this Day read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That the said Bill be committed to Mr. Yorke, Sir Tho. Meeres, Mr. Moore, Sir Lanc. Ordered, That the Report of the Bill for the Draining of Lindsey Level be peremptorily heard on Tuesday Morning, the first Report of that Day.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to inspect the Bill for the Highways, be revived; and do sit this Afternoon at Two of the Clock, in the Place formerly appointed.

Bedford Level.

Ordered, That the ingrossed Bill for the Draining of Bedford Level be read To-morrow Morning.

Conventicles, &c.

Ordered, That the ingrossed Bills against Conventicles, and to prevent the Growth of Popery, be read To-morrow Morning.

House to sit.

Ordered, That the House do sit this Afternoon; and the Bill of Subsidies be then read the first Bill.

Offices in London.

Ordered, That the Bill touching Grants of Offices in the City of London be read this Afternoon.

Clothiers.

Ordered, That the House will, on Tuesday Morning, proceed on the Report concerning the Clothiers.

Answer to Message.

Mr. Secretary Morrice reports from his Majesty, That his Majesty had been graciously pleased to return an Answer, in Writing, to the Message, sent to him from this House, touching Commissions issued for Discovery of Lands gained from the Sea: Which he delivered in at the Clerk's Table.

Which was read; and is as followeth; viz.

Charles R.

HIS Majesty believes, that all Commissions, which have been issued since His Return, for Discovery of Lands gained from the Sea, have been well deliberated upon, by the Ministers of the Revenue; and that the same are issued out regularly: But if there had been any Irregularity or Miscarriage in the Execution thereof, His Majesty is well content, that all such who have been guilty of the same, should be strictly prosecuted, and severely punished: And as His Majesty doth not believe, that many (if any) Grants have been passed by his Majesty, upon such Commissions (in the Consideration whereof His Majesty hath taken some Pains, and heard any Persons who have objected against the same); so He will not pass any such Grants, but upon very good Deliberation, and Assurance from His Counsel at Law, that such Grants are very legal.

Resolved, &c. That the humble Thanks of this House be returned to his Majesty, for his gracious Message.

And Mr. Secretary Morice is desired to return the Thanks of this House to his Majesty.

Privilege- Charge against Sir R. Temple.

Mr. Secretary Morice did further acquaint the House, That he had received Command from his Majesty to declare to the House, That the Earl of Bristoll was the Person that did deliver the Message from Sir Richard Temple to his Majesty.

Resolved, &c. That the humble Thanks of this House be returned to his Majesty, for his gracious Message, in relation to the Matter concerning Sir Richard Temple.

And Mr. Secretary Morice is to return the Thanks of this House to his Majesty.

Resolved, &c. That a Copy of the first Message sent hither by his Majesty, against Sir Richard Temple, be sent to the Earl of Bristoll: And he be made acquainted, That the King hath sent Word to this House, That he brought the Message to him, from Sir Richard Temple; and his Answer desired, Whether Sir Richard Temple did desire him so to do.

Ordered, That Mr. John Vaughan and Mr. Garway do attend the Earl of Bristoll with this Message.

Leave to attend Lords.

Ordered, That Sir George Cartwright have the Leave of this House to be examined, as a Witness, before the Lords, in the Case of the Lord Gerrard.

The House adjourns till Two of the Clock this Afternoon.

Wells Key.

AMENDMENTS, sent from the Lords, to the Bill sent from this House, for the repairing of Wells Key, in the County of Norfolke, were twice read; and, on the Question, severally agreed to.

The Bill, with the Amendments, being read the Third time;

Resolved, &c. That the Bill, and the Amendments, be agreed to: And that the Bill be sent back to the Lords.

And Sir Wm. Doyley is to carry up the same.

Marshes gained from the Sea.

A Bill for settling the Possession of all Marshes, fresh or salt, gained, or to be gained, from the Sea, was read the Second time.

Selling live Cattle.

Sir Charles Harbord reports from the Committee to which the Bill against Butchers selling live fat Cattle was committed, some Amendments to be made to the Bill: Which he read, with the Coherence, in his Place; and, after, did deliver the same in at the Clerk's Table.

And the Amendments being twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed to;

Resolved, &c. That the Bill, with the Amendments agreed to, be ingrossed.

Merchants Bills, &c.

Sir Charles Harbord reports from the Committee to which the Bill for assigning Bills and Bonds was committed, several Amendments to be made to the Bill: Which he read, with the Coherence; and afterwards, delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Which Amendments were read the First time.

And the several Amendments precedent to the Amendment to the One-and-twentieth Line of the First Folio, were read the Second time; and, upon the Question, agreed to.

The Amendment to the One-and-twentieth Line of the First Folio was read the Second time.

Resolved, That the Word "Two" be inserted instead of the Word "One."

Which was done.

Resolved, That the Amendments, with the Alterations, be agreed to.

The rest of the Amendments precedent to the Amendment to the Eleventh Line of the Second Folio, were read the Second time; and, on the Question, agreed to.

The Amendment to the Eleventh Line of the Second Folio was read the Second time.

Ordered, That these Words, "and for so much as he is a real Debtor," be inserted in the Amendment, after the Word "Crown."

Which was done.

Resolved, That the Amendment, with the Addition, be agreed to.

The next Amendment was read the Second time; and, on the Question, agreed to.

The last Amendment was read the Second time.

Ordered, That these Words, "which shall remain in the same Condition as they were before the Making of this Act," be inserted in the Amendment, after "Factor."

Which was done; and the Amendment, with this Addition, on the Question, agreed to.

Some Debate arising upon the Bill;

Resolved, That the Bill be re-committed to the former Committee, upon the present Debate of the House: And the Committee are revived; and to meet To-morrow at Two of the Clock, in the Place formerly appointed.

And then the House adjourns till To-morrow Morning, Eight of the Clock.
