Earl of Mulgrave's Estate.
AN ingrossed Bill, sent from the Lords, to enable
the Earl of Mulgrave and Sir Hugh Cholmeley
to make Leases to the King, was read the First time.
Resolved, &c. That the said Bill be read the Second
time To-morrow Morning.
Prize Goods.
An ingrossed Bill, sent from the Lords, for Repealing
of Part of an Act of Parliament, intituled, An Act
directing the Prosecution of such as are accountable for
Prize Goods, was read the Second time.
And no Exception being taken thereto;
Resolved, &c. That the said Bill be read a Third time,
at the next Time of the Sitting of the House.
Deeping Fen.
An ingrossed Bill, sent from the Lords, for the Draining of the Fen, called Deeping Fen, and other Fens
therein mentioned, with the Amendments and Proviso
agreed by this House, was read a Third time.
Ordered, That William Mountague Esquire be added
a Commissioner for the County of Northampton, in the
Amendments.
Ordered, That the Bill, with the Amendments and
Proviso agreed, be returned to the Lords.
And Sir Anthony Irby is to carry up the Bill.
Vintners.
Sir Richard Ford reports from the Committee to
which the Bill for Regulating of Measures, and preventing Abuses by Vintners, and other Retailers of Wine,
Beer, and Ale, is committed, some Amendments agreed
by the Committee to be made to the Bill: Which he read,
with the Coherence, in his Place; and after, delivered
the same in at the Clerk's Table: Which Amendments
were twice read: And all the Amendments (except the
Three last, which were rejected) were, upon the
Question, severally agreed to.
Resolved, &c. That the last Clause in the Bill, which
does relate to Justices of Peace, be omitted.
Resolved, &c. That the Bill, with the Amendments
agreed to, be ingrossed.
Conference with Lords.
A Message from the Lords, by Sir Mundeford
Brampston and Sir Nathaniell Hobart;
Mr. Speaker, The Lords desire a present Conference
with this House, in the Painted Chamber, upon the Bill
for settling the Estate between the Earl of Thanett and
his Brothers; and also upon a Message received from
his Majesty.
The Messengers being again called in, Mr. Speaker
acquainted them, That the House had agreed to a present Conference with the Lords, in the Painted Chamber.
Ordered, That Mr. Waller, Mr. Vaughan, Sir Solomon
Swale, Sir John Heath, Sir Robert Atkins, Sir Thomas
Meres, and Sir Thomas Higgons be appointed to manage
the Conference.
Sir Thomas Higgons reports from the Conference had
with the Lords, That the Lords did adhere to the Bill,
as to the keeping in the Words "Lord Clifford," with
the Addition of the Words "of Landesbrough:" And
did offer a Proviso to be added to the Bill; to which
they desired the Concurrence of this House.
And did further acquaint the House, That the Lords
did declare the Effect of a Message, which they received
from his Majesty to be, That his Majesty, for many
weighty Reasons, was resolved the Houses should continue their Sitting no longer than Thursday next.
And the Amendments and Proviso, being delivered
in at the Clerk's Table, and being read three Times,
were, upon the Question, agreed to.
Ordered, That a Conference be desired to be had with
the Lords, upon the Subject Matter of the last Conference
upon the Amendments and Proviso, sent from the Lords,
to the Bill for the Earl of Thanett: And that the Persons
formerly nominated do manage the Conference: And
Sir Thomas Higgons is to go up to the Lords to desire a
Conference.
Fast-day.
Resolved, &c. That his Majesty be humbly desired to
appoint a general Day to be solemnly observed in all
Churches within England, Wales, and Town of Berwick
upon Tweede, to implore the Blessing of God upon his
Majesty's Fleet, and naval Forces, employed against the
Dutch: And that the Lords Concurrence be desired
therein, by the Persons appointed to manage the Conference to be had with the Lords, upon the Bill concerning the Earl of Thanett.
