ORDERED, That these Members following be
added to the Committee, to which Mr. Caron's
Petition was referred; viz. Sir Humphry Winch, Sir
Nicho. Carew, Sir Edw. Walpoole, Mr. Whorwood, Sir
Francis Windham.
Beckham's Estate.
A Bill for settling of certain Manors and Lands, late of
John Beckham, in the County of Norfolke, Esquire, deceased, for the Payment of his Debts, and raising of Portions for his younger Children, was read the First time.
Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read the Second time
on Saturday next.
Assigning Exchequer Debts.
An ingrossed Bill for assigning Debts in the Exchequer
was read.
Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the
Title shall be, An Act for assigning Orders in the Exchequer, without Revocation.
Weymouth Election.
Serjeant Charleton reports from the Committee of Elections, touching the Election for the Town of Weymouth
in Dorsettshire, between Sir John Coventry and Mr. Harvy,
that the Committee, upon full Examination of the whole
Matter, the Committee were clear of Opinion, that Sir
John Coventry was duly elected, and ought to sit.
Resolved, &c. That the House doth agree with the
Committee, that Sir John Coventry was duly elected,
and ought to sit.
Committee of Privileges.
Ordered, That Sir John Heath, and Mr. Kent, be
added to the Committee of Elections.
Woodmongers and Innholders.
Sir Thomas Higgons reports from the Committee, to
which it was referred to examine the Abuses and Exactions
of Woodmongers, That the Committee had agreed to
propose some Matters: Which he opened to the House.
Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the same Committee, formerly appointed for Examination of Abuses
and Exacts complained of in the Ballast Office; and also
to consider of a Way how to provide publick Wharfs;
and to make free and easy the Rates of Lighters, Barges,
Horses, and Carts, employed in carrying of Fewel; and
to report it, with their Opinions herein, to the House;
and to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.
Privilege -A Member charged with Corruption.
Mr. Bourchier being called in, and examined;
Ordered, That the Twelve Merchants, that did manage
the Business relating to the French Merchants, do attend
the House To-morrow Morning; and that the Serjeant
do leave Notice at their several Houses for them to attend.
Ordered, That Mr. Cressett and Mr. Bennett do
attend To-morrow Morning.
And then the House adjourned till To-morrow
