Privilege.

ORDERED, That all Proceedings in the Actions brought by Sir Francis Roll, against the Tenants of the Manor of Ascott and Northlead, in the County of Somersett, in which Sir Lancelot Lake is interested, as a Trustee, by Conveyance from Sir Tho. Cheeke, for a Term yet in being, be staid, during the Session and Privilege of Parliament.

A Petition of Sir Jo. Cutts was read.

Bedford Level.

Ordered, That Leave be given for bringing in a Bill, To-morrow Morning on the Behalf of Sir John Cutts, for Explanation of a former Act touching the draining of the great Level of the Fens, called Bedford Level.

Ditto.

The Amendments and Provisoes, sent down from the Lords, to the Bill for taxing and assessing the Lands of the Adventurers within the great Level of the Fens, called Bedford Level, were twice read; and, upon the Question, severally agreed to.

Resolved, That the Proviso and Amendments, agreed to, be inserted, and added to the Bill.

King's Pleasure to be known when he will be attended.

Ordered, That such Members of the House, which are of his Majesty's Privy Council, do this Morning wait on his Majesty, to know his Pleasure, when the House shall attend him with the Vote passed Yesterday.

Exportation of Horses, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee to whom it was, amongst other things, referred, to bring in a Bill for the more free Exportation of Horses, Corn, Cattle, and Victuals, be impowered to bring in a Clause to make Provisions for discouraging the Importation of Foreign Corn: And do also consider of the Custom in Coal exported; and how an Improvement may be made to his Majesty.

Privilege-Libellous Publication.

Information being given to the House of a great Abuse committed against Mr. Secretary Morrice, by one Wm. Thropp, a Bookseller in Chester, in publishing a Letter pretended to be writ by one Robert Clavell an Under Secretary to Mr. Secretary Morrice; who affirms he never had any such Servant, nor is acquainted with any Person of that Name;

Ordered, That the said Wm. Throp be sent for, to answer his Abuse and Misdemeanour therein; and to bring with him the said pretended Letter; and that Mr. Alexander Rigby, who did, by a Letter, acquaint Sir Fran. Shackerley of the Contents of the said pretended Letter, do then also attend this House, to give what Account he can concerning this Matter.

Illegal Conventicles, &c.

Ordered, That a Committee be appointed to examine the Matter of Information touching the Insolencies of Nonconformists in Staffordshire; and also to receive Information, and examine such Matters as shall be offered, concerning the illegal Conventicles and Meetings, and the Insolencies and Disturbances of Nonconformists; and by whom, and what Means, they received Encouragement; or any thing else which may relate thereto; viz. Sir Robert Carr, Mr. Whorwood, Sir Jona. Trelawney, Sir Walter Strickland, Major General Edgerton, Sir Jo. Holland, Sir Hugh Bethell, Mr. Buscowen, Sir Jo. Birkenhead, Sir Robert Atkins, Col. Kirby, Sir Nicho. Carey, Sir Rich. Browne, Sir Fretchvile Hollis, Sir Wm. Lowther, Col. Birch, Mr. Edw. Seymour, Mr. Cheyne, Mr. Henry Seymour, Mr. Crouch, Sir Walter Young, Sir Tho. Meeres, Sir Bernard Grevile, Sir Wm. Hickman, Sir Wm. Smith, Sir James Thynne, Sir John Knight, Sir Tho. Allen, Sir Hugh Wyndham, Sir Jo. Talbot, Sir Phill. Musgrave, Mr. Morrice, Mr. Henry Coventry, Sir Gilbert Talbott: And all that come are to have Voices: And they are to meet this Afternoon at Two of the Clock: And to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.

King appoints to be attended.

The Lord Fitzharding acquainted the House, that his Majesty had appointed this House to attend him this Afternoon at Three of the Clock, at the Banqueting House at Whitehall.

Seamens Tickets.

The House then proceeded to the Examination of the Matter relating to the Miscarriage, in discharging Seamen by Tickets, according to former Order: And the Commissioners of the Navy being fully heard thereunto, and as to their not regular Payment off of Tickets; and the Matter afterward debated;

Resolved, That the further Debate of this Matter be adjourned till To-morrow Sevennight.

Ordered, That Sir George Carterett, late Treasurer of his Majesty's Navy, do, on To-morrow Sevennight, give an Account of what Monies was assigned for the Navy, and how afterwards employed and issued by him.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees be adjourned.

Duties on Foreign Commodities.

Ordered, That Mr. Jolliffe, Sir Wm. Thompson, Sir Walter St. John, be added to the Committee appointed to consider what Foreign Commodities are fit to bear an additional Charge at the Custom House, and to bring in their Estimate thereupon, as near as they can: And have Leave to sit this Afternoon, the Order to the contrary notwithstanding.

Answer to Address.

It being Three of the Clock in the Afternoon, Mr. Speaker and the House went to attend his Majesty at Whitehall.

Mr. Speaker and the House being returned from his Majesty;

Mr. Speaker acquaints the House, that, having read the Vote of this House to his Majesty, his Majesty was graciously pleased to return an Answer to this Effect; viz.

I WILL issue forth My Proclamation, according to your Desire; and I do not doubt, but you will take the Second Part of My Speech into Consideration, according to your Vote.

Thanks on Answer.

Resolved, That the humble Thanks of this House be returned to his Majesty; for his gracious Answer to the Address of this House: And Mr. Henry Coventry, Sir James Smith, Sir Edm. Windham, and Sir John Birkenhead, are to return the Thanks of this House to his Majesty accordingly.

Encouraging Navigation.

Ordered, That Mr. Foord, Mr. Jolliffe, Sir Tho. Wendy, Mr. Roberts, be added to Dr. Chamberlaine's Committee: And they are to sit this Afternoon, the Order of this Day to the contrary notwithstanding.

Jurisdiction of Lords.

Ordered, That the Committee to whom the Matter concerning the Jurisdiction of the House of Lords is committed, do sit this Afternoon, the Order of this Day to the contrary notwithstanding.

Money received for indigent Officers.

Ordered, That the Committee, to whom the Matter concerning the truly loyal indigent Officers is committed, have Leave to bring in a Bill to enforce those, who have any of the Monies belonging to the said loyal Officers in their Hands, to bring in the same; or to pay double Interest and Damages for the detaining thereof.

Thefts and Robberies.

Ordered, That the Committee, to whom the Bill for preventing Thefts and Robberies is committed, do sit this Afternoon, the Order to the contrary notwithstanding.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight of the Clock.
