Committee of Elections.
ORDERED, That Sir Edw. Thurland, Sir Richard
Lloyd, Mr. Hatton, Mr. Street, Sir Hen. Peckham,
Mr. Geo. Mountague, Mr. Serjeant Flint, Mr. Serjeant
Seis, Sir Courtny Poole, Mr. Progers, be added to the
Committee of Privileges and Elections.
Wey Navigation.
Ordered, That the Committee to which the Bill concerning the River Wey, was committed, do suspend their
Sitting, or Proceeding in the Bill for a Fortnight.
Money given to indigent Officers.
A Bill for taking the Account of the Sixty thousand
Pound given to the indigent loyal Officers, and for their
further Relief, was read the First time.
Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read the Second time
on Saturday next at Ten of the Clock.
Precaution for preserving the Peace.
Information being given to the House, from the Lord
General, of the great Resort of dangerous and disaffected
Persons to this Town; and of their Meetings and Endeavours to disturb the publick Peace; and that he had
and would take what Care he could, to prevent their
Attempts; which he did also recommend to the Care of
this House;
Thanks to the Lord General.
Resolved, &c. That the Thanks of this House be returned
to the Lord General, for his Care in preserving the Peace
of the Kingdom; and that Sir Robert Carr, Sir Winston
Churchill, Sir Char. Harbord, Sir Thom. Dolman, Sir
James Smith, Sir Phill. Musgrave, do attend his Grace;
and present him the Thanks of the House.
Publick Accounts.
The House then resumed the Consideration of the
Report of the Commissioners for Accompts:
And the Third Observation being read; and the Commissioners called in; the Lord Brereton did read a Paper;
of the Reasons of their Observations; and was further
heard thereupon: And the Commissioners being withdrawn; and the Matter debated;
Resolved, &c. That the further Consideration of the Third
Observation be postponed, until the Observations which
relate to the Commissioners of the Navy come into Debate.
The Fourth Observation was read; and the Commissioners of Accounts called in; who read and delivered in
a Paper of Reasons and Instances for the said Observation; and were further heard thereunto.
The Fifth Observation was read; and the Commissioners heard, as to their Grounds and Instances for the
same.
Sir George Carteret informing the House, that he
must attend the House of Lords at Three of the Clock
this Afternoon;
Resolved, &c. That the further Debate of the said Observations be adjourned till To-morrow Morning Nine of
the Clock the first Business; nothing to intervene.
Magdalen College, Cambridge.
Ordered, That the Lord St. John, Sir Robert Holmes,
be added to the Committee, to which the Petition concerning St. Mary Magdalen College was committed.
And then the House adjourned till To-morrow
