Prayers.

Privilege.

A COMPLAINT being made, on the Behalf of Sir Courtney Poole, a Member of this House, for a Breach of Privilege committed against him by one Gibbon of the City of Exeter, by causing one * Hansam, the Servant and Agent of Sir Courtney, to be arrested;

Ordered, That the Matter be referred to the Committee of Privileges and Elections, to examine the Matter of Breach of Privilege objected against the said Gibbon; and report the Matter, with their Opinions therein, to the House: And that Gibbons be summoned to attend the Committee on Thursday Sevennight next.

Ditto.

A Petition of Charles Knowles, a Deputy of the Serjeant at Arms attending the House, was read, complaining of an Abuse and Breach of Privilege of this House.

Ordered, That this Petition be referred to the Committee of Privileges and Elections, to examine the Matter of the Petition; and certify it, with their Opinions therein, to the House.

Durham Election of Members.

A Bill for enabling the County Palatine of Durham to send Knights and Burgesses to Parliament was read.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read a Second time, at Ten of the Clock on this Day Sevennight.

Transporting Wool.

A Bill, sent from the Lords, for preventing Frauds in the Transportation of Wool, was read the First time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read a Second time.

Bankes', &c. Agreements.

A Bill, sent from the Lords, for confirming certain Agreements concerning Sir Ralph Bankes, Sir John Hanham Baronet, Ellis Bethell, Thomas Mackrell, Richard Warland, and John Edwards, by their Guardians, and divers other Persons, was read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be committed to Sir Adam Browne, Sir Lancelot Lake, Sir John Swale, Sir John Bennett, Sir John Moreton, Sir Rich. Everard, Sir Philip Musgrave, Sir John Cotton, Sir John Covert, Mr. Churchill, Sir John Werden, Sir Edw. Masters, Mr. Weld, Mr. Grey, Sir John Hotham, Sir John Strode, Mr. Morrice, Mr. Chetwin, Mr. Cornwallis, Sir John Coventry, Mr. Lucy, Mr. Strode, Lord Ashley, Sir John Harrison, Mr. Swanton, Lord Ancram, Mr. Hobby, Mr. Culliford, Sir Rich. Franklyn, Sir Thomas Lee, Sir John Talbot, Mr. Herbord, Mr. Whittaker, Sir Francis Lawley, Sir Thom. Meeres, Mr. Pitt, Sir Kingsmill Lucy, and all the Members that serve for the Counties of Dorset and Wiltes: And they are to meet on Monday, at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber: And to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.

Poor Children Apprentices.

Ordered, That the Report of Sir Wm. Coventry, of the Bill for binding out poor Children Apprentices, be heard on Monday Morning.

Suffolke Election.

A Petition of Sir Samuell Barnardiston Baronet was read; complaining of an undue Carriage in the Sheriff of Suffolke, in the Election of a Knight to serve for that County:

But there being no Return yet made;

Ordered, That the Sheriff of Suffolke do make his Return of the Election for that County.

Chippenham Election.

Sir Thomas Meeres reports from the Committee of Elections, the State of the Case touching the Election for the Borough of Chipphenham, between Mr. Gwyn, who was returned, and sits in the House, and Mr. Vere Bertie, who did by Petition appeal against the Election and Return, as unduly made; and the Evidence therein before the Committee on either Side; and the Votes by them passed thereupon: Which Resolves are as followeth; viz.

Resolved, &c. That Francis Gwynn, the Sitting Member, is not well elected a Burgess to serve in the Parliament for the Borough of Chippenham.

Resolved, &c. That Vere Bartie Esquire is well elected a Burgess to serve in this Parliament for the Borough of Chippenham.

Resolved, &c. That Jonathan Rogers, the Bailif of Chippenham, do attend, till this Report is made, in order to the Amending of his Return, if the House shall so think fit.

The said Report being debated;

The Question being put, That the House now proceed to determine the said Report;
