Abuses in Elections.

SIR John Mallett reports from the Committee, to which the Clause to be added to the Bill for regulating Elections of Members to serve in Parliament, was committed, some Amendments, agreed to be added to the said Clause: Which he read in his Place; and afterwards, delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: And the same being Twice read; and, upon the Question, severally agreed;

Resolved, &c. That the said Bill, with the Amendments and Clause agreed to, be ingrossed.

Exception in a Deed.

The ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act for explaining and declaring the Extent of an Exception, in a Deed therein mentioned, was read a First time.

Resolved, &c. That the said Bill be read a Second time.

The Bill, sent from the Lords, intituled, An Act for explaining and declaring the Extent of an Exception, in a Deed therein named, was read a Second time.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill be committed to Sir John Bennett, Sir Thomas Littleton, Mr. Hanley, Mr. Maynard, Sir John Shaw, Lord Ashley, Mr. Daniell, Mr. Morrice, Sir John Strode, Sir Robert Carr, Sir Thom. Dolman, Sir Geo. Lake, Sir John Trevor, and all that serve for the County of Dorset: And they are to meet this Afternoon, at Two of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber: And to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.

Mr. Secretary Coventry reports, that the Members of this House, of the Privy Council, had attended his Majesty, to know his Pleasure, when he would be attended with the Addresses of this House: And that his Majesty hath declared, he would be ready to receive the House, in the Banqueting House at Whitehall, this Afternoon, before Three of the Clock.

Dartmouth Election.

Ordered, That the Matter, concerning the Election for Dartmouth, and all other Matters depending before the Committee of Privileges and Elections, be put off till after the Recess; and that all Persons concerned be discharged of their further Attendance.

And then the House adjourned till Three of the Clock in the Afternoon.

Answer to Addresses.

MR. Speaker, with the House, being met, went to Whitehall, to attend his Majesty.

The House being returned;

Mr. Speaker acquaints the House, That he had delivered the Addresses to his Majesty, according to the Commands of the House: And that his Majesty was pleased to return his Answer to the Effect following; viz.

That he observed the Address did consist of many different Parts; and therefore it could not be expected there should be a present Answer: But, for the several particular Things contained in it, he would, before the next Meeting, take such effectual Care, that no Man should have Reason to complain.

Thanks for Answer.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do present the humble Thanks of this House to his Majesty, for the often Accesses they have been admitted to his Majesty's Person; and for his most gracious Answer to the several Addresses of this House; and particularly for his last gracious Message; and for the Care he hath declared he will take of the Protestant Religion.

Address for encouraging English Manufactures.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir John Coell and Sir Wm. Beversham;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have sent us to you with an Address, to be presented to his Majesty, to encourage the Manufactures of his own Dominions; to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

To which the House, upon reading Twice, and inserting the Words "and Commons," agreed. And the Messengers, being called in, were acquainted, that the House had agreed with the Lords: And the Address was delivered back to them again.

Supply Bill.

The Bill for raising the Sum of Twelve hundred Thirty-eight thousand Seven hundred and Fifty Pounds, having had a Third Reading.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act for raising the Sum of Twelve hundred Thirty-eight thousand Seven hundred and Fifty Pounds.
