A BILL for erecting a Court of Conscience for
Westminster, and the Liberties thereof, was delivered in, and accepted, according to Order.

A Bill to enable Trustees to raise Monies towards Payment of the Debts of Alexander Davyes Esquire, deceased, was read the Second time.

Growth of Popery.
A Bill to prevent the Growth of Popery, brought in
by Order of the House, was read the First time.
Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read a Second time.
Trade with France.
Resolved, &c. That the Report concerning the Trade
between England and France, be heard on Wednesday
next, at Ten of the Clock in the Morning.
Fines and Recoveries.
Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for
the better Assurance of such as claim under ancient
Fines and common Recoveries.
The House interpose to prevent a Quarrel.
Information being given to the House, of a Challenge,
and a Quarrel like to happen thereupon, between the Lord
Cavendish, and Mr. Francis Newport, and Mr. Atkins;
Ordered, That Mr. Francis Newport and Mr. Atkins
be summoned forthwith to attend this House.
Ordered, That it be referred to Sir Charles Harbord, Sir
Tho. Lee, Mr. Garraway, Mr. Swinfen, Sir John Trever, Sir
Wm. Coventry, Mr. Secretary Coventry, Colonel Birch,
Sir Hen. Ford, Mr. Waller, Sir Trever Williams, Mr.
Williams, Sir Richard Temple, Mr. Powle, or any Three of
them, to withdraw, and prepare and bring in a Vote to
prevent the Quarrels and Mischiefs which may thereby
arise touching the Matter aforesaid.
Preventing Duels.
Ordered, That a Bill be brought in to prevent Duels,
and Provocations to Duels: And it is referred to Sir
Cha. Harbord, Sir Tho. Lee, Mr. Garraway, Mr. Swinfen, Sir John Trever, Sir Wm. Coventry, Mr. Secretary
Coventry, Colonel Birch, Sir Hen. Ford, Mr. Waller, Sir
Trever Williams, Mr. Williams, Sir Richard Temple, Mr.
Powle, or any Three of them, to prepare and bring in
the said Bill.
British Subjects in French Service.
Sir Wm. Coventry reports, That he had, in Obedience
to the Order of this House, carried up, and delivered,
the Vote of the House, touching such his Majesty's Subjects as are or shall be in the Service of the French King;
and that the Lords would take it into Consideration, and
return an Answer.
State of the Nation.
The House then resolved into a Committee of the
whole House, to consider of the State and Condition of
the Kingdom.
Mr. Speaker left the Chair.
Sir John Trevor took the Chair of the Committee.
Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.
Resolved, &c. That this House will, on Wednesday
Morning next, at Ten of the Clock, resolve into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the State and
Condition of the Kingdom.
Vote against prosecuting a Quarrel between Members.
Mr. Swinfen reports from the Committee appointed to
withdraw and prepare a Vote in the Matter touching the
Lord Cavendish, the Vote agreed by the said Committee:
Which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered
the same in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same being
again read, was, upon the Question, agreed; and is as
followeth; viz.
Forasmuch as this House, being informed of certain
Papers, containing provoking Language, posted up by
the Lord Cavendish, a Member of this House, did inflict
a Punishment upon him, by committing him to the
Tower; and whereas they are informed, that, notwithstanding such their Care and Justice, some Persons have
presumed to call the said Business in Question; and,
from Occasion or Pretence of those Papers, to give out
threatening Words, or send Challenges, or provoking
Papers, to the said Member of this House, or others, to
be communicated to him; this House doth declare, that
if any Person whatsoever shall begin or prosecute any
Quarrel upon that Account, or upon any Matter or
Thing any way relating thereunto, he shall be esteemed
a Disturber of the publick Peace, and a Contemner of
the Justice and Privilege of this House; and shall be
proceeded against accordingly.
Resolved, &c. That this Vote be made publick, by
putting the same up in the Lobby, and Westminster
Hall Gate.
And then the House adjourned till To-morrow
