Martis, sexto die Martii, 1676.

JOHN Westerbane, and Stephen Noguier, this Day took the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy, at the Clerk's Table, in order to their Naturalization.

Smith's Estate.

A Bill to enable Trustees to sell Lands for Payment of the Debts of Sir Thomas Smith Baronet, deceased, was read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be committed to Colonel Phelipps, Colonel Sandys, Sir Hen. Ford, Mr. Eyres, Sir Richard Everard, Mr. Williams, Sir John Knight, Sir Hum. Hooke, Sir John Birkenhead, Sir Nico. Slaning, Sir Wm. Terringham, Sir Cha. Harbord, Sir Hen. Puckering, Mr. Nowell, Sir Thom. Chichely, Sir John Newton, Mr. Serjeant Croke, Sir Thom. Williams, Sir John Robinson, Sir Anth. Irby, Sir John Covert, Sir Richard Ford, Mr. Crowch, Sir John Moreton, Sir Trevor Williams, Mr. Cofferer, Mr. Robert Wright, Sir Tho. Meres, Sir John Barnaby, Sir Robert Thomas, Major General Egerton, Mr. Maynard, Mr. Tregonwell, Captain Sherrard, Sir Lewis Palmer, Mr. Palmes, Mr. Harbord, Mr. Sandys, and all the Members of this House, that serve for the Counties of Chester, Lancaster, Salop, and Somersett; and for the several Cities and Boroughs of the said Counties: And they are to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon at Two of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber: And are impowered to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.

Lord Kilmurrey's Estate.

A Bill for Payment of the Debts of Charles late Lord Viscount Kilmurrey, and for raising Portions for his younger Sons, was read.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read a Second time.

Darwent Navigation.

A Bill for making the River Darwent navigable, was read.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read a Second time.

Privilege- a. Member being a Papist disabled from sitting.

Mr. Speaker acquaints the House, That, according to their Command, he had sent his Letter to Sir Thomas Strickland, to inform him, That the Record of his Conviction of Recusancy had been read in the House; and that the House had given him Notice thereof, that he might offer what he could, why a Writ should not issue for electing a new Member to serve in his Place: And that Sir Thomas Strickland had returned an Answer thereto in Writing: Which Mr. Speaker produced; and read the same to the House * * * *

Upon the Debate of which Matter;

Resolved, &c. That whereas it doth appear to this House, that Sir Thomas Strickland, a Member of this House, is convicted of Popish Recusancy, that he be from henceforth disabled from being any longer a Member of of this House.

Westmerland Writ.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue out his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a new Writ, for the Election of a Knight of the Shire to serve in this present Parliament for the County of Westmerland, in the room of the said Sir Thomas Strickland.

Lindsey Level.

Ordered, That the Bill for draining Lindsey Level, be read on Thursday Morning next, at Nine of the Clock.

Grievances.

The House then resolved into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of Grievances.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Mr. Sawyer took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Sawyer reports from the Committee of the whole House, That they had agreed a. Vote or Resolve to be reported to the House: Which he read in his Place; and afterwards, delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same was again read; and, upon the Question, agreed to.

Resolved, &c. That a Committee be appointed, to prepare an Address to represent to his Majesty the Danger of the Power of France; and to desire his Majesty, by such Alliances as his Majesty shall think fit, to secure his Kingdoms, and quiet the Fears of his People; and for Preservation and securing the Spanish Netherlands.

Resolved, &c. That this House will resolve into a Committee of the whole House, To-morrow Morning at Ten of the Clock, to proceed, in the Consideration of Grievances.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees, which were to sit this Afternoon, be adjourned.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight of the Clock.
