Mercurii, 7 die Martii, 1676.

HENRY Oldenburgh and Adam Gronen, this Day took the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy, in order to their Naturalization.

Lord Cullen's Estate.

A Bill to enable Trustees to sell Part of the Lands of the Lord Viscount Cullen, for Payment of his Sister's Portions, and his Debts, was read.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read a Second time.

Irish Cattle.

A Petition of John Galton, Samuel Plenty, and Roger Stone, for themselves, and in the Behalf of John Willing, William Sheppeard, John Harreis, Chri. Hippesley, and Richard Brooks, all of the Parishes of Yatten and Kenn in the County of Somerset, Yeomen; complaining of a vexatious Prosecution against them, as Officers in the said Parishes of Yatten and Kenn, for seizing several Irish Cattle imported into England, contrary to the Act of Parliament in that Case made and provided; whereby they have been put to great Charges and Trouble for putting the said Law in Execution; was read.

And the said Petitioners being called in to the Bar of the House; and owning the said Petition;

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to a Committee, to examine the Matter of the said Petition; and to report the same, with their Opinions therein, to the House: And they are also to consider of an explanatory Act, to prevent the Frauds and Abuses in importing Irish Cattle: And it is referred to Sir John Knight, Sir Wm. Lowther, Mr. Williams, Sir John Robinson, Mr. Crouch, Sir John Rolls, Sir John Mallet, Mr. Wynne, Col. Kirkby, Sir Richard Everard, Sir Geo. Downing, Sir John Hotham, Captain Jones, Mr. Stockdale, Mr. Palmes, Sir John Trevor, Alderman Jollyffe, Sir John Lowther, Sir Trevor Williams, Mr. Sacheverell, Sir Fran. Roll, Sir Sam. Fire in Southwarke.

Ordered, That the Bill for erecting a Judicature in Southwarke, for Determination of Differences touching Houses burnt or destroyed in the late Fire there, be read To-morrow Morning, the first Business.

Ordered, That Sir John Trevor's Report, touching the Duke of Norfolke, be heard on Friday Morning next.

Hackney Coaches.

A Petition of Charles Taunton, Gilbert Jennings, Ambrose Neale, and Henry Alder, on the Behalf of themselves, and other licensed Hackney Coachmen, in and about the Cities of London and Westminster, and the Weekly Bills of Mortality; complaining of great Exactions and Abuses committed by the present Commissioners for licensing Hackney Coachmen;

And the Petitioners being called in to the Bar of the House; and owning the said Petition;

Resolved, &c. That the Petition be referred to a Committee: Who are to summon the Commissioners, and hear both Parties; and to examine what Miscarriages and Abuses have been committed on either Side, contrary to the Act of Parliament for Licensing of Hackney Coachmen; and to report the Matter, with their Opinions, to the House: And it is referred to Sir John Trevor, Sir Tho. Bermudas Company.

A Petition of John Wise, William White, Robert Stephens, and Perient Trott, of London, Merchants of the Bermudas Company, on the Behalf of themselves, and divers others of the said Company, and many of the Planters within the said Island, was tendered and received.

Ordered, That the House will To-morrow Morning proceed to the Consideration of the said Petition.

Grievances.

The House then resolved into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed in the Consideration of Grievances.

Sir John Trevor reports from the Committee of the whole House, That they had proceeded in the Consideration of Grievances; and had agreed a Vote or Resolve to be reported to the House: Which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same was again read; and, upon the Question, agreed to; and is as followeth:

Resolved, &c. That a Committee be appointed, to examine the Matter complained of, in imposing and requiring of Fees, Oaths, and Bonds upon the Subject, for the granting of Passes for Ships; and to inquire of the Mischiefs and Inconveniencies arising from thence; and to consider how to remedy and regulate the same; and to report the Matter, with their Opinions, to the House: And it is referred to Sir Tho. Meres, Mr. Solicitor General, Sir Courtney Poole, Col. Byrch, Alderman Love, Mr. Robert Wright, Sir Tho. Littleton, Mr. Finch, Alderman Jolliffe, Sir Chr. Musgrave, Mr. Pepys, Sir John Werden, Sir John Barnaby, Mr. Jones, Sir Tho. Williams, Sir Robert Southwell, Mr. John Wright, Sir Jos. Tredenham, Mr. Garraway, Sir Tho. Clargis, Sir Edm. Jennings, Mr. Papillon, Sir Richard Wiseman, Mr. Stockdale, Sir Coppleston Bamfeild, Sir John Cotton, Sir John Heath, Sir Sam. Barnardiston, Sir John Nicholas, Sir Tho. Doleman, and all the Members of this House that are Merchants; and all that serve for the Port Towns: And they are to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, at Two of the Clock in the Speaker's Chamber: And are impowered to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.

Resolved, &c. That this House will, on Friday Morning next, at Ten of the Clock, resolve into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed in the further Consideration of His Majesty's Speech.

Address on the Danger from French Power.

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to Sir Tho. Meres, Sir Wm. Coventry, Sir Geo. Downing, Sir Tho. Lee, Sir Jos. Tredenham, Lord Ancram, Mr. Finch, Sir Robert Carr, Sir John Birkenhead, Mr. Robert Wright, Sir Cha. Harbord, Mr. Sacheverell, Mr. Powle, Sir Cha. Wheeler, Sir Eliab Harvey, Mr. Garway, Mr. Sawyer, Sir John Talbott, Mr. Williams, Sir Chr. Musgrave, Sir John Trevor, or any Five of them, to prepare the Address to represent to His Majesty the Danger of the Power of France; and to desire His Majesty, by such Alliances as His Majesty shall think fit, to secure His Kingdoms, and quiet the Fears of His People; and for Preservation and securing the Spanish Netherlands: And they are to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, at Two of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have sent you down Two Bills; the one intituled, A Bill for Prevention of Frauds and Perjuries; the other intituled, An Act for Explanation of an Act, intituled, An Act preventing Dangers which may happen from Popish Recusants: To which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Member absent without Leave.

The House being informed, that Mr. Serjeant Maynard, contrary to the Order of the House, was gone the Circuit without Leave of the House.

Ordered, That the said Serjeant Maynard be sent for, in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, to give his Attendance on the Service of this House.
