Mercurii, 21 die Martii, 1676.

Children of English Subjects Nat.

A BILL, sent from the Lords, intituled, An Act for naturalizing Children of his Majesty's English Subjects, born in Foreign Countries during the late Troubles, was read.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read a Second time.

David's, &c. Nat.

An ingrossed Bill for Naturalization of Jacob David, was read, being the last time of Reading.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act for Naturalization of Jacob David, and others:

And Sir John Trevor is to carry up the Bill to the Lords

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees, which were discontinued, be revived; and do sit this Afternoon in the Places formerly appointed.

Preventing Simony.

Ordered, That Sir John Shaw, Mr. Morris, Mr. Williams, Sir Wm. Doyley, Sir Richard Everard, Sir John Cotton, Sir Tho. Clargis, Sir Cha. Wheeler, Mr. May, Sir John Bramston, Mr. Boscowen, Sir Tho. Allen, Mr. Wright, Sir Geo. Downing, Sir John Barnaby, Mr. Serjeant Seys, Mr. Spry, Mr. Lewis, Mr. Henley, Sir Courtney Poole, Sir Capell Luckin, Mr. Walker, Sir Richard Wiseman, Mr. King, be added to the Committee to which the Bill to prevent Simoniacal Contracts, is committed.

Liberty of the Subject.

Sir John Knight reports from the Committee to whom the Bill for the better Preservation of the Liberty of the Subject, was committed, several Amendments agreed by the Committee to be made to the Bill: Which he read, with the Coherence, in his Place; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Where, the same being again twice read, were, upon the Question, severally agreed to.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill, with the Amendments agreed to, be ingrossed.

Duke of Norfolke.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee to whom the Petition of Edward and Bernard Howard, Esquires, and others, was referred; to prepare and draw up an humble Address to be made to his Majesty, That the Duke of Norfolke may be brought over into England, from his Confinement beyond Sea, pursuant to the Vote of this House.

Privilege of a Member in a Suit.

The House being informed, that one Thomas Dikin had delivered a Declaration against Mr. Leighton, a Member of this House, during this present Session, in Breach of the Privilege of Parliament;

Ordered, That the said Thomas Dikin be sent for in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House; for his Breach of Privilege, in delivering a Declaration against Mr. Leighton, a Member of this House.

Newarke Election.

The House then proceeded to the Hearing of the Cause of Newarke, touching the Sending of Burgesses to serve in Parliament: And Counsel being called in; and the Petition of Mr. Savile being read; and the Counsel heard;

And the Counsel being withdrawn; and the Matter debated;

The Question being put, That, by virtue of the Charter granted to the Town of Newarke, the Town of Newarke hath Right to send Burgesses to serve in Parliament;

Ordered, That all Committees, which were to sit this Afternoon, be adjourned.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight a Clock.
