ORDERED, That Mr. Speaker do issue out his
Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a
new Writ for the Electing of a Burgess to serve in this
present Parliament for the Town of Mountgomery, in the
room of Henry Lord Herbert, called up to the House
An ingrossed Bill, sent from the Lords, intituled, An
Act for the better Discovery, and more speedy Conviction, of Popish Recusants, was read the Second time.
Resolved, &c. That the Bill be committed to the Committee to whom the Bill for the more easy and speedy
Conviction of Popish Recusants, and for the more effectual
Execution of the Laws against them, is committed.
A Bill for preventing the Growth of Popery, was read
the Second time.
Resolved, That the Bill be committed to the same
Committee: And that Mr. Browne, Mr. Pepis, Sir John
Cotton, and Sir John Mallet, be added to the said Committee.
Ordered, That the said Committee do bring in a Clause
to be added to the said Bill, the better to enable the
Universities to recover their Right to the Advowsons of
Livings that are in the Hands of the Papists.
And then the House adjourned till To-morrow
