Dominus Cancellarius continuavit præsens Parliamentum usque in diem crastinum, videlicet, 19m instantis Aprilis, hora octava.

Exportation of Iron Ordnance, &c.

Upon Delivery of the aforesaid Bills to the Lords, Mr. Secretary Herbert did signify, That he had received Direction from the Commons of the Lower House, to recommend unto their Lordships one of the said Bills (namely the Bill against Transportation of Iron Ordnance, Gun Metal, Iron Ore, Iron Mine, and Iron Shot) as a matter being of itself of Importance, and such as concerned the State; and therefore they did request the Lords to give Furtherance to the expediting of the said Bill; and withal, because the said Commons had received certain Information of great Quantities of Ordnance, and the Kinds of Metal before mentioned, ready at this very Instant (while the Bill was in proceeding) to be transported beyond the Seas, from sundry Ports of the Realm, they desired their Lordships to take present Order for the Stay of the said Transportation thereof.

Ecclesiastical Affairs.

Furthermore, the said Mr. Secretary Herbert delivered another Message to the Lords, from the Common House, to this Effect, That, whereas, they had received Signification of His Majesty's Pleasure (delivered unto them by their Speaker) for Conference by them to be had with certain of the Lords the Bishops, concerning the Reformation of certain Matters and Rites of the Church (whereof some Complaints had been made), and for the better Correspondence to be holden betwixt the Commonalty and the Clergy; they were willing to have such Conference with some select Number of the Bishops; but so as they might confer with them as Lords of the Higher House of Parliament, and not in such Condition and Quality as they are of the Convocation House: Whereunto Answer was made, That the Lords would take some Time to deliberate what further Answer to make, and that the same should be notified to them To-morrow, or as soon as conveniently it may be given.
