Lovell's Bill.

Upon Motion made this Day to the House by the Lord Chamberlain, the Meeting of the Committees for Mr. Lovell's Bill was appointed to be this present Afternoon, by Two of the Clock, at the Council Chamber in Court.

Exportation of Iron Ordnance, &c.

It was likewise appointed by the Court, That the Committees on the Bill against Transportation of Ordnance, should meet about the same upon Monday next, the 7th of May, by Seven in the Morning, at the Little Chamber, near the Parliament Presence.

Boundaries of Exeter.

Also that the Committees on the Bill touching the Boundaries of Exceter should meet upon Tuesday, the 8th of April, by Two in the Afternoon, at the said Little Chamber.

A Message from the Lower House.

A Message from the Lower House, delivered by Mr. Secretary Herbert, and others; consisting of three Parts: 1. That, upon Relation of the last Conference to their House, some Doubt was moved, whether their Lordships had appointed Meeting this Afternoon about the Matter of Purveyance; which they desired to know; and, if their Lordships were so agreed, some Committees of the Lower House should then attend: If not, they would be ready at any other Time, when the Lords would appoint.

2. Concerning the Commission to be awarded, they desire to know what Number of Sub-Committees the Lords would appoint for the Higher House; and they will accordingly proportion a convenient Number of the Lower House.

Process in the Court of Exchequer.

3. They presented a Bill (with special Recommendation of the same) intituled, An Act concerning Process and Pleadings in the Court of Exchequer; whereupon the said Bill was this Day prima vice lecta.

Answer.

Answer sent from the Lords, by Mr. Serjeant Crooke, and Mr. Dr. Swale, That, concerning the Matter of Purveyance, they would make Choice of the Number of Thirty, or thereabouts, for Committees of the Higher House; and desired Meeting this present Afternoon, by Two of the Clock, at the Council Chamber in Court.

And, touching the Matter of the Commission, for framing of the Bill, they would appoint Six Lords to be Committees, together with Two of the Judges, and one of the King's Learned Counsel to attend; and desired the Meeting to be upon Saturday Morning, the 5th of this Instant, by Seven in the Morning. To both which Meetings the Lower House assented.

The Hearing of the Cause concerning the Barony of Bergevenie was again deferred until Monday next, the Seventh of this Instant, by Two in the Afternoon.

3 Maii. Seditious Books.

It was this Day Ordered, That the Clerk of the Council of His Majesty's Court of Star Chamber shall look out, and make Search, for such Orders and Decrees as have been past or proceeded in the said Court, concerning the Abuses in printing, bringing into the Realm, buying, and selling of any seditious, Popish, vain, and lascivious Books, or Pamphlets; and shall cause true Copies of the said Orders and Decrees to be delivered unto the Lord Treasurer, Earl of Shrewsburie, or such others of the Lords as are appointed Committees on a Bill now preferred into the said Higher House of Parliament against the said Abuses, before Sunday next, the 6th of this Instant, at what Time the said Lords have appointed to meet about the said Bill.

E. of Cumberland's Privilege.

Allome's Bill.

This Day, William Allome, the Earl of Cumberland's Servant (who had been arrested upon Execution by Robert Beane and William Cabbstacke), was brought into the House, by the Sheriff of Middlesex, according to the Order of the Court set down in that Behalf the last of April; and forasmuch as it appeared to the Court, that the said Allome was not to be taken for a menial or ordinary Servant to his Lordship, nor was employed in any necessary Place of Attendance about his Lordship, in this Time of the Parliament; and therefore was not held to be a Person privilegeable from this Arrest: It was therefore Ordered, That he should be returned again to the Prison of Newgate, from whence he came, there to remain till he shall be discharged by the ordinary Course of Law: And, whereas the said Robert Beane, one of those that arrested him, was also, according to the Order of the last of April, brought before the Lords by the Serjeant at Arms, it was thought meet (upon Protestation by him made, that he knew not the said Allome to be the Earl of Cumbreland's Servant at the Time of his Arrest) that he should be discharged and dismissed from any further Attendance for that Cause.

Memorandum, That, although the said Robert Beane was dismissed as abovesaid, yet, because the other that did assist him in the Arrest (namely William Cabstacke) had ever since withdrawn himself, it was Ordered, That he should come to his Answer for the same in the Court; and that the said Robert Beane should bring him into the House upon Saturday next, by Eight in the Morning.
