Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, An Act to enable John Tebold, Gentleman, to make his Wife a Jointure of certain of his Lands, and to sell some Part for Preferment of his younger Children.

The said Bill sent to the Lower House, for their Consideration of the Proviso added by their Lordships, together with the Bill against Jesuits, Seminary Priests, Recusants, &c. Sent by Mr. Dr. Stanhope and Sir John Tindale.

Charges of the King's Houshold.

Continuing and reviving Laws, &c.

Upon this Second Reading of the said Bill, it was moved, and assented unto by the House, That a Conference should be had with certain selected Committees of the Lower House, concerning the said Bill; and thereupon the Lords undernamed were appointed Committees for this House on that Bill: videlicet,

It was intended, that the Conference should have been this Afternoon, and the Message so given to be delivered; but, because the House of the Commons was risen before the Message could be delivered, it was deferred till Saturday. Place, the Outward Chamber.

L. Mountague. committed to The Fleet.

This Day, the Matter was renewed, and brought in Question again, touching the Lord Viscount Mountagu; and, forasmuch as it hath been judged and determined by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, That the said Lord Viscount Mountagu hath, on Monday, the 25th of this Instant Month, given great Cause of Scandal and Offence to the said House, and to the whole State, by undertaking (under Pretence of speaking to a Bill concerning the Punishment of Jesuits, Seminary Priests, and Recusants) the direct Defence and Maintenance of the Popish Religion, and to inveigh, in open House of Parliament, against the whole State of Religion established in this Realm; and that the said Lord Viscount Mountagu hath deserved to be severely censured and punished for the same; it is therefore Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in the said House, That the said Lord Viscount Mountague shall be committed to the Prison of The Fleet, and there remain until further Order shall be taken concerning him; and thereupon the Warden of The Fleet was sent for, and required to take the said Lord Viscount Mountagu into his Custody, and so to detain him, until he should receive Order from their Lordships to the contrary.

Garbling Spices.

The Bill, intituled, An Act for the Well-garbling of Spices, was brought into the House, by the Lord Treasurer, the first of the Committees, with a Proviso offered to be added.

Process in Ecclesiastical Courts.

Letters Patent.

The said Lord Treasurer did present to the House Two other Bills, which remained in his Hands, as first of the Committees on the said Bills: videlicet, The Bills concerning the Process and Proceedings in Ecclesiastical Courts, and for Confirmation of Letters Patents; excusing himself that, by reason of other important Service for His Majesty, he could not give Meeting unto the rest of the Committees on the said Bills; whereupon the first of them was delivered to the Earl of Northampton, and the other to the Lord Chamberlain; and the Meeting of the Committees on both the Bills appointed to be To-morrow, being Wednesday, the 27th of June, at the Outward Chamber, near the Parliament Presence, by Two in the Afternoon.
