Explanation of a Statute, 21 Hen. VIII.

HODIE 1a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the Explanation of a Statute, enacted in the Twenty-first Year of King Henry the Eighth.

Swearing, &c.

The Bill, intituled, An Act for Reformation of the common Sin of Swearing, and Taking the Name of God in vain, brought back to the House, by the Earl of Southampton, the first of the Committees; with Signification, That they did not hold it sufficiently drawn for Reformation of that Offence; and therefore signified therewithall, that (if some of the King's Learned Counsel might be commanded to attend, as formerly they had not done) they would do their Endeavour to frame a new Bill of the same Matter. This Motion Assented unto; but appointed, That it should be remembered again at the next Sitting, that farther Order might be taken therein for the Appointment of Time and Place; and for Commandment to be given to the King's Learned Counsel.

Adjourn.
