Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the Sale of some Part of the Lands of Sir Frauncis Gaudy, Knight, deceased, late Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas, for Payment of his Debts.

Appointed to meet at the Council Chamber at Court, upon Thursday next, the 4th of this Instant, at Two in the Afternoon.

Instrument of the Union.

Upon a Motion of the Lord Chancellor, which was also followed by the Earls of Salisbury and Northampton, the Articles contained in the Instrument of the Union were this Day again read, for the better Information of the Lords; which being read, and some Motions made by divers of the Lords what further Course may be meetest to be holden for proceeding, it was thought the best and readiest Means for Speed, not to insist upon the usual and formal Order of the House, according to the Manner of speaking to Bills (where the Order is to speak but once to a Bill at one Time of Reading), nor to make a several Committee for the preparing of the Business to the House (which seemed to restrain the Liberty of Discourse and Debate, that would perhaps be enlarged if every one of the Lords were present, and had his free Speech); but to confer all together, and yet after the Manner of a Committee, and with the same Liberty of Speech that is usual in Committees, that every one may deliver his Mind and Meaning upon any Point, as Occasion may serve, by as often Speech as he will; and that it should be done every Morning (according to the Manner of Conference in a Committee), some while after the usual Form of Sitting in the House were holden and observed.
