Message from the H. C. for Conference concerning Contribution on and Retribution.

Message from the Lower House, by Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer and others: videlicet.

That the Knights, Citizens, and Burgesses of the Commons House, have taken Consideration of a Message, which heretofore they received from the Lords of this House, concerning a free Conference to be had between the Committees of both Houses; to which Motion the said House of Commons do assent and agree, referring the Time and Place to their Lordships, so as the Time be after Wednesday next; and do with that, in the mean Time, their Lordships, against such Conference, would be prepared, in Three Points, to yield Satisfaction to the Committees of that House: videlicet,

1. What more the Lords will offer unto the Commons, to be considered of, above the Ten Things already proposed, and above that which they of that House have thought on to be yielded, by Way of Retribution.

2. That the Lords will deliver unto them the lowest and certain Price of those Things which they shall have and contract for.

3. What Course may be taken, and what Project their Lordships will propound, for levying that which shall be given, other than upon the Lands.

Answer:

That the Lords have entered into Consideration of the Message now sent unto them by the Knights, Citizens, and Burgesses of the Commons House, and do find the same to be of several Natures; and, because their Lordships do conceive that the same will require some further Consideration, therefore their Lordships will thereof amongst themselves advise, and then send Answer to that House accordingly.

Hodie allatæ sunt 6 Billæ a Domo Communi, presented by Sir Frauncys Bacon and others:

1. An Act for the better Execution of Justice, and suppressing of Criminal Offenders, in the North Parts of the Kingdom of Englande.

2. An Act for the Ease in Pleading against the troublesome and contentious Suits, prosecuted against Justices of Peace, Mayors, Constables, and certain other His Majesty's Officers, for the lawful Execution of their Office.

3. An Act for the punishing and correcting of Deceits and Frauds committed by Sorters, Combers, and Spinsters of Wool, and Weavers of Woollen Yarn.

4. An Act for Reformation of Alehouse-keepers.

5. An Act to make void Leases, and other Conveyances, made to the King's Majesty, of Purpose to try other Men's Titles.

6. An Act for the Continuance and Reparations of a new-built Wear upon the River of Exe, near unto the City of Exeter.

Agreed, That To-morrow Morning the Lords will consider what Answer shall be sent to the Nether House.
