vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for
confirming an Agreement made upon the Marriage of
Charles Owen Esquire and Dorothy his Wife, of Nash,
in the County of Pembroke."
Biddulph & Birkinhead versus Crome's Bill.
Upon reading the Petition of Symon Biddulph Esquire
and Deborah Birkinhead Widow; shewing, "That the
Petitioner Deborah Birkinhead is a Judgment Creditor, and Symon Biddulph a Bond Creditor, of Valentine
Crome the Younger; and that there is a Bill depending in this House, intituled, "An Act for vesting
the Estate of Valentine Crome, of Mayden Early, in the
County of Berks, Gentleman, in Trustees, to be sold,
for Payment of his Father's Debts, and making Provision for himself and Brother;" and praying to be
heard, by their Counsel, against the said Bill:"
It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioners shall
be heard, by their Counsel, at the Committee to whom
the said Bill stands committed, To-morrow, at Ten a
Clock.
Sir Thomas Cave's Bill.
The Lord Guilford reported, from the Lords Committees, the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable Sir
Thomas Cave, of Stanford, in the County of Leicester,
Baronet, to sell certain Lands, in Eydon, Moreton
Pinckney, and Cannons Ashby, in the County of Northampton, to raise Money, to pay his Brothers and
Sisters Portions; and settle other Lands in the said
County of Northampton, of like Value, to the same
Uses," as fit to pass, with some Amendments.
Which were read Twice, and agreed to; and the
Bill ordered to be engrossed, with the said Amendments.
Lord Keeper to assist the Committee for supplying Defects in Laws, &c.
The Lord Sommers reported from the Committee appointed to consider what Defects there are in the Laws
relating to the Administration of Justice; and to consider of proper Methods to prevent expensive Suits;
"That the Lords desired the Lord Keeper might assist
the said Committee."
To which the House agreed; and ordered it accordingly.
State of the Navy, and Methods of manning the Fleet, Committee to consider of.
The House being moved, "To consider of proper Methods for the more easy and effectual manning of the
Fleet, and to inquire into the present State of the
Navy:"
Lords Committees were appointed, to consider of proper Methods for the more easy and effectual manning of the Fleet of England; and to enquire into
the present State and Condition of the Navy, and
in what Readiness the same is, in order to be set out
the next Spring: Whose Lordships have Power to
send for Persons, Papers, and Records; and report,
from Time to Time, to the House, as they shall
think fit.
