This Day Adelaide Dutchess of Shrewsbury took the Oaths appointed, in order to her Naturalization.

E. Nottingham & al. Petition for a Bill, to sell Part of the late Marq. of Halifax's Estate:

Upon reading the Petition of Daniel Earl of Nottingham, Thomas Lord Viscount Weymouth, Heneage Lord Gernsey, Francis Gwynne, and John Conyers; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, to sell a Term of Five Hundred Years in the Manor or Lordship of Fotheringhay, in the County of Northampton, late the Estate of William Lord Marquis of Halifax, to raise Monies, for buying in some Part of the Annuities charged on their Trust Estate, and to pay off the Arrears of the Annuities, Debts, and Legacies:

March. of Halifax & al. to have Notice of it.

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lady Dowager Marchioness of Halifax and the Lady Stanhope shall have a Copy or Copies of the said Petition; and do put in their Answer thereunto, in Writing, within One Week next after Notice of the Petition, and Service of this Order.

Lesley & al. versus Sir B. Granville, for Oppressions in Barbadoes.

Upon reading the Petition of John Lesley and Thomas Maxwel Esquires, Members of the late Assembly of the Island of Barbadoes, and of John Kirton Esquire, in Behalf of themselves and of many other Inhabitants of the said Island; shewing, "That the Petitioners have been greatly oppressed, by divers illegal Acts and arbitrary Proceedings of Sir Beville Granville Knight, the present Governor of the said Island, to the Destruction of the known Rights, Privileges, and Properties of the Petitioners, and many other Inhabitants of the said Island; and that they have lately presented their Petition to Her Majesty, representing their Grievances; and praying to be relieved touching the same, and to be heard before this House, in order to have a Representation of the Case laid before Her Majesty, on the Behalf of the Petitioners and the rest of the Inhabitants of the said Island:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition shall be, and is hereby, referred to the Consideration of the Lords Committees following; (videlicet,)

Lords Committees appointed to consider of the Petition of John Lesley and Thomas Maxwell Esquires, Members of the late Assembly of the Island of Barbadoes, and of John Kirton Esquire, in Behalf of themselves and of many other Inhabitants of the said Island; whose Lordships, having considered of the said Petition, and of the several Grievances mentioned therein, have hereby Power to send for Persons, Papers, and Records; and report their Opinion thereupon to this House:

Edge versus Hatterell:

After hearing Counsel, upon the Petition and Appeal of Nicholas Edge, against a Decree made upon the Hearing of Two Causes, by the then Lord Chancellor, in the Court of Chancery, the Five and Twentieth Day of October One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-five; One of them, between the Petitioner Plaintiff, and Henry Hatterel and Thomas Swinnerton, James Ford, William Parker, Philip Hollins, Thomas Swetenham, and Hannah Bateman, Defendants; and the other, between the said Henry Hatterel Plaintiff, and the Petitioner Defendant, upon a Cross Bill: As also upon the Answer of Henry Hatterel and others put in thereunto; and due Consideration of what was offered thereupon:

Judgement affirmed.

It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition and Appeal of Nicholas Edge shall be, and is hereby, dismissed this House; and that the Decree therein complained of shall be, and is hereby, affirmed.

Dutchess of Shrewsbury's Nat. Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing Adelaide Dutchess of Shrewsbury."
