E. of Winchelsea takes the Oaths.

This Day Charles Earl of Winchilsea took the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy, and the Oath of Abjuration, and also made and subscribed the Declaration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Lister's Bill.

The Lord Guilford reported from the Lords Committees, the Bill, intituled, "An Act for Sale of the Manor of Swinden, and several Lands and Hereditaments, in the County of York, late Part of the Estate of Christopher Lister, and after of Thomas Lister Esquire, deceased, for Payment of the Debts and Legacies of the said Christopher, and a Mortgage of the said Thomas Lister's," as fit to pass, with some Amendments.

Which were read Twice, and agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed, with the said Amendments.

Discovery of Deaths of Persons pretended to be alive, Bill.

The House (pursuant to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the more effectual Discovery of the Death of Persons pretended to be alive, to the Prejudice of those who claim Estates after their Deaths."

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Herbert reported, "That the Committee of the whole House had gone through the said Bill; and think it fit to pass, with several Amendments, which he was ready to report to the House."

Ordered, That the said Report be made To-morrow, at Twelve a Clock.

Message from H. C. with a Bill.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. Dolben and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable James Stopford Esquire to sell Lands in the County of Nottingham, for Payment of his Debts, and raising Portions for Younger Children;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Resolutions relating to Gregg & al.

The House (pursuant to Order) proceeded to take into Consideration the Reports made the Tenth Instant, relating to William Greg and others.

After Consideration whereof, and Debate thereupon; the House came to the following Resolutions; (videlicet,)

"1. That the Crime of which William Greg stands attainted is of so heinous a Nature, and attended with such extraordinary Circumstances, that it may prove of a most pernicious Consequence, if not made an Example.

"2. It plainly appears, by the Examinations before this House, that Alexander Clerk, alias Valiere, and J. Barra, were all along, during their being employed between England and France, in the Interest of the French, and carried Intelligence from Time to Time to the Enemy, to the great Damage of the Trade of this Kingdom and Her Majesty's Government, and were apparently at first Persons unfit to be employed by any One entrusted by Her Majesty.

3. That the open and public Manner of the Correspondence managed by the said Valiere and Barra, with the Governors and Commissaries of Calice and Bullogn, could tend only to carry on an Intelligence with Her Majesty's Enemies; and it is highly probable, that thereby the Stations of our Cruizers, the Strength of our Convoys, and the Time of our Merchants Ships sailing, have been betrayed to the Enemy.

"That the said Report, and Resolutions of this House thereupon, be humbly laid before Her Majesty, by an Address of this House; and that, in the said Address, Her Majesty be likewise humbly desired, That, for the future, such Care be taken in the Secretaries Offices, as that the Papers and Letters of the greatest Importance be kept private from the Clerks and Under Officers in those Offices; and, in order to put a Stop to this pernicious Correspondence, Her Majesty would be pleased to take effectual Care to prevent the like dangerous Intercourse for the future."

The Lord Chancellor reported Her Majesty's most Gracious Answer to the Address of this House, as follows; (videlicet,)

Queen's Answer to the Address upon Her Speech;

"My Lords,

"I am extremely sensible of your Zeal and Concern for the Safety of My Person and Government; and very well pleased, to find your Thoughts agree so exactly with Mine, that no Attempt of our Enemies against us at Home should divert us from prosecuting the War abroad with the greatest Vigour; the Hopes of which has probably been One of their principal Motives to so presumptuous an Undertaking.

"As I cannot but wish there were not the least Occasion of Distinction among My Subjects; so I must always place My chief Dependance upon those who have given such repeated Proofs of the greatest Warmth and Concern for the Support of the Revolution, Security of My Person, and of the Protestant Succession."

Address and Answer to be printed and published.

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Address of this House presented to Her Majesty, and Her Majesty's most Gracious Answer thereunto, shall be forthwith printed and published.
