PRAYERS.

Publick Stores.

ORDERED, That Lieutenant Colonel Rowe do, out of the publick Stores, furnish Colonel Foxe, with an Hundred Carabines, an Hundred Case of Pistols, and Two Brass Sacres: And the Committee of the Safety is required to sign Warrants to this Purpose: And the Committee of the Safety is likewise required to furnish him with Ten Barrels of Powder, for the Service of the State.

Sir Jo. Evelyns.

Sir Hen. Heyman, Sir Wm. Lexes, Mr. Baynton, Mr. Blakiston, Mr. Holles, Mr. Goodwyn, are added to the Committee for the Examination of Sir Jo. Evelyns: And the whole Committee, or any Four of them, are appointed to meet this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Court of Wards; and are to make Report at the next Sitting of the House.

The Covenant.

Ordered That Mr. Solicitor, Sir H. Vane jun. and Sir Arth. Heselrig, do acquaint the Commissioners of Scotland with the Matter of the Report from the Committee appointed to consider of tendering the Covenant to such as come in to claim the Benefit of the Declaration of both Kingdoms.

Ordered, That such Members of the House as have not yet taken the Covenant, do take the same To-morrow, after the Second Sermon.

Ordered, That the President of the College of Physicians do tender the National Covenant to all Physicians, Practitioners in Physick, and Apothecaries.

Twisden's &c. Petitions.

Ordered, That the humble Petition of Sir Roger Twisden, and Sir Wm. Brockman, be referred to the Consideration of the Committee appointed to confer with the Scotts Commissioners, and to acquaint them with them; and to consider of some Course for the Petitions and others of the like Nature.

Army Pay, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee at Haberdashers Hall do pay unto my Lord General, the Thousand Pounds he formerly laid out for the Pay of the Common Soldier upon the great Necessity of the Army: And that That Committee do pay another Thousand Pounds to the Treasurers at Wars, to be sent down to the Army, before Saturday next, to pay the Serjeants, Corporals, Drums, and Foot Soldiers, of that Army.

Persons sent for.

Resolved, That Geo. Frere and Tho. Bonifoye shall be forthwith sent for, as Delinquents, upon a Complaint made against them, by the Commissioners of Excise, of great Affronts and Scorns put upon the Ordinance of both Houses for the Excise, and the Proceedings thereupon.

Advance from Excise.

Upon Mr. Recorder's Report from the Commissioners of Excise, That they would advance Twenty thousand Pounds, and pay in Ten thousand Pounds forthwith, and Ten thousand Pounds more by this Day Sevennight, payable at Six Months, if they might be disengaged from their Promise to the Western Gentlemen; and upon the Western Gentlemen disengaging the Commissioners of Excise from their Promise made unto them; It is Ordered, That the Commissioners of Excise do forthwith pay unto the Treasurer at Wars Ten thousand Pounds; and Ten thousand Pounds more to the Treasurer at Wars by this Day Sevennight; to be repaid at Six Months End: And that the Committee Yesterday employed to the Commissioners of Excise, do consider how, either out of the Excise or otherwise, Ten thousand Pounds more may be raised for the Army under the immediate Command of my Lord General.

Importing Currans.

Resolved, That an Ordinance shall be brought in, for the permitting all Currans to be imported and landed, paying Six Shillings per Cent. above all Custom and Excise: And that the Committee for Gloucester do bring in an Ordinance to this Purpose.

Message from Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Rob. Riche and Mr. Page;

The Lords have received a Petition from Sir Jo. Conyers, directed to both Houses, to desire, that he might be dispensed with, upon his Occasions, for Three or Four Months longer: The Lords think fit to grant him Leave to be absent till Midsummer next; and desire the Concurrence of this House.

The Lords lately sent down an Ordinance concerning the Lord Edw. Howard: They desire this House would take it into a speedy Consideration; and send a speedy Answer, if this House please.

The Petition was read. And

Leave of Absence.

It was Resolved, &c. That this House doth concur with the Lords, in prolonging the Leave of Sir Jo. Coniers to be absent till Midsummer next.

Lord Howard.

Ordered, That the Ordinance concerning the Lord Edw. Howard, be read on Thursday Morning next.

Answer to Lords.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has considered their Lordships Message; and do concur in the Time for Sir Jo. Conyers till Midsummer.

They will take the Ordinance concerning the Lord Edw. Howard into a speedy Consideration; and will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Plymouth Committee.

Ordered, That Sir Jo. Bamfield and Mr. F. Buller be added to the Committee for Plymouth.

Quarrel in the Hall.

Ordered, That Captain Bulmer and Captain Worsencroft, who quarrelled and fought in the Hall, be kept in Custody.

Message from Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edw. Leech and Mr. Page;

The Lords do concur with this House in the Ordinance that gives Power to the Lord Fairefaxe to press; and to place Ministers in the Place of those that are Illaffected: They do likewise agree to the Ordinance for selling of Goods and Ships taken by Reprisal; with the Addition of one Name, viz. Mr. Andrew Burrell.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree to the Addition of Mr. Andrew Burrell.

Answer.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has considered their Lordships Message; and do agree to the Addition of Mr. Andrew Burrell to the Ordinance for selling of Goods and Ships taken by Reprisal.

Quarrellers in Westminster Hall.

Ordered, That the Commissioners of the Great Seal do grant out Commissions of Oyer and Terminer, for the proceeding against Quarrellers and Fighters in Westminster Hall.

Weekly Meal.

Mr. Ellis reports the Amendments to the Ordinance concerning a Weekly Meal: The which were read; and assented unto: And the Ordinance, with the Amendments, assented unto; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords, for their Concurrence, by Mr. Ellis, on Thursday next.

Windesore Garison.

Ordered, That, peremptorily, on Thursday next, the Business concerning Windesore Garison, be taken into Consideration, the first Business.

Court of Wards.

Mr. Solicitor, Mr. Ellis, Mr. Whitelock, Mr. Prideaux, Mr. Crewe, Mr. Maynard, Mr. Hill, Mr. Lisle, Mr. Sam. Browne, are to consider, with the Committee of the King's Revenue, of the State of the Monies in Arrear to the Court of Wards; and of the growing Profits; and of the bringing in the Arrears and the growing Profits: And likewise to consider of supporting the Profits arising from that Court for the present, until other Order shall be taken concerning that Court: And they are to meet on Friday next, at Two post Meridient, at Sir Peter Wyche's House in Channel Row.

Lists of Officers.

Ordered, That on Thursday Morning next, the Report be made concerning the Lists of the Officers of the Army under the immediate Command of my Lord General.

Waller's Forces.

Mr. Prideaux, Mr. Bond, Mr. F. Buller, Sir F. Popham, Sir Walt. Erle, Sir Edm. Fowell, Mr. Rolle, Mr. Ashe, Sir Tho. Jervoise, Mr. Rous, Sir Hen. Vane sen. Sir Tho. Barrington, Mr. Lisle, Sir Peter Wentworth, Mr. Wallop, Mr. Recorder, Mr. Young, Mr. Green, Mr. Mr. Wallop, Mr. Recorder, Mr. Young, Mr. Green, Mr. Browne, Mr. Alexander Popham, Sir Hen. Heyman, Sir Rob. Harley;

This Committee is appointed to consider of some Means of raising Monies for enabling Sir Wm. Waller to march; and for the constant paying of those Forces under Sir Wm. Waller that are not raised nor paid by the associated Counties: And are to meet this Afternoon, at Four of Clock, in the Court of Wards: And have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, Records.

Court of Wards.

Ordered, That the Committee of the whole House appointed to meet upon the Ordinance concerning the Court of Wards, be adjourned till Thursday next, Two of Clock.

Currans imported.

An Ordinance for raising of Monies for Currans imported, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, by Vote, upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence, by Sir Walt. Erle, on Thursday Morning next.

Whereas several Parcels of Currans have, since the last Day of September 1642, been brought into the Port of London, and several other Ports and Creeks within this Kingdom, contrary to an Ordinance of Parliament made the Twenty-sixth of August 1642; in which respect, they have, by the Officers and others thereunto authorized, been seized upon as forfeited; but, not being put to Sale or otherwise disposed of, do begin to perish; and, if some Course be not taken for the Disposal of them, are likely to become of no Use: It is Ordained, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament, That the Commissioners of the Customs do take Accounts of the said several Parcels of Currans, within the Port of London or any the Out Ports; and do forthwith nominate and appoint certain Persons of Trust, to make Sale thereof to such as will give most for them; allowing One fourth Part of the Money raised thereby, to such Persons as did seize the same; and reserving the Remainder for such Uses as are hereafter expressed. And whereas, over and above the Zant Currans brought into the River of Thames in the Ship Falcon, now lately arrived, divers other Parcels of Currans, which were taken out of the Ship Lyon, and the Ship Angel, lately arrived in the Downs, and since gone for Holland, to the Quantity of Thirty Tons or thereabouts, are likewise brought into the said River, in Barques and other Vessels; It is further Ordered, by the said and Commons, That the Commissioners and Officers of the Customs do make Entries thereof, and suffer the same to be landed, the Merchant or Owners paying Six Shillings for each Hundred Weight, over and above the Customs aud Excise due for the same: And that all and every the Sums which shall be raised by any the Ways or Means aforesaid, excepting the said Customs, and the Fourth Part of the Seizures before-mentioned, shall, by the said Commissioners and Officers, be paid over unto Sir Walter Erle, for and towards the Payment and Satisfaction of the Arrears due unto Reformado Officers.
