Davies's Bill:

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for vesting the Leasehold Rectories of Landeveyson and of Llangathen, and the Chapel of Llanyhernion and Llechron, in Llanegward, in the County of Carmarthen, in Trustees, to be sold; and for Application of the Purchase-money for the Benefit of such Persons who are entitled to the Premises under the Will of William Davies Gentleman, deceased."

Rejected.

Ordered, That the said Bill be rejected.

Sir H. Monoux, Leave for a Bill.

After reading, and considering, the Report of the Two Lord Chief Justices, to whom was referred the Petition of Sir Humphrey Monoux Baronet, only Child of Sir Philip Monoux Baronet, deceased, by Dame Dorothy Monoux his Widow and Relict, an Infant of the Age of Eight Years; and also of the said Dame Dorothy his Mother, and of William Farrer Esquire, John Cater Esquire, and William Aspin Esquire, his Guardians and Trustees; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for the Purposes in the Petition mentioned:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioners have hereby Leave given to bring in a Bill, according to the Prayer of the said Petition.

Dr. Friend and Mr. Hill to attend.

Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Doctor Friend and Mr. Aaron Hill do forthwith attend this House.

E. of Gallway and E. of Peterborow's Papers referred to Committee:

Ordered, That the Paper delivered at the Bar, by the Earl of Gallway, to the Committee of the whole House Yesterday, as likewise the Paper sealed up and delivered by the Earl of Peterborow also Yesterday be referred to the Committee of the whole House appointed to sit this Day, to take into further Consideration the present State of the War in Spain.

State of the War in Spain:

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into the said Committee.

And, after some Time, the House was resumed.

Dr. Friend examined:

And Doctor Friend, being called in and sworn, was examined in relation to a Paper printed in a Book, published by him, intituled, "An Account of the Earl of Peterborow's Conduct in Spain, chiefly since the raising the Siege of Barcelona, 1706."

And being withdrawn;

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put again into a Committee.

After some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Abingdon reported, "That the Committee had come to this Resolution:

Resolution that the E. of Peterborow has given a faithful Account, &c.

"That the Earl of Peterborow has given a very faithful, just, and honourable Account of the Councils of War in Valencia."

Then the Question was put, "That the House do agree with the Committee in the said Resolution?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Resolved, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Earl of Peterborow has given a very faithful, just, and honourable Account of the Councils of War in Valencia.

E. of Gallway to have Copies of Papers:

Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Earl of Gallway may have a Copy of the Earl of Peterborow's Answers to the Questions proposed to him, or any other Papers before the Committee of the whole House appointed to take into Consideration the present State of the War in Spain, as his Lordship shall desire, in order to his answering the same.

State of the War in Spain:

Ordered, That on Thursday next, at Twelve a Clock, this House shall be put into a Committee again, to take into further Consideration the present State of the War in Spain.

Then a Question being proposed, as follows; (videlicet,)

Question proposed, concerning the Opinions of the E. of Galway, L. Tyrawley, and G. Stanhope, in a Council of War.

"That the Earl of Gallway, Lord Tyrawly, and General Stanhope, insisting, in a Conference held in Valencia, some Time in January 170 6/7, in the Presence of the King of Spain; and the Queen's Name being used in Maintenance of their Opinion for an Offensive War, contrary to the King of Spain's Opinion, and that of all the General Officers and Public Ministers, except the Marquis Das Minas; and the Opinion of the Earl of Gallway, Lord Tyrawly, and General Stanhope, being pursued in the Operations of the following Campaign, was the unhappy Occasion of the Battle of Almanza, and one great Cause of our Misfortunes in Spain, and of the Disappointment of the Duke of Savoy's Expedition before Thoulon, concerted with Her Majesty:"

And a Debate arising thereupon:

Ordered, That the said Debate be adjourned to Thursday next, at Eleven a Clock.

Adjourn.
