L. Pelham takes the Oaths.
This Day Thomas Lord Pelham took the Oaths, and
made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took
and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the
Statutes.
Conway versus Shrimpton.
Whereas To-morrow is appointed for hearing of the
Cause wherein Sir John Conway Baronet and others are
Appellants, and Philadelphia Shrimpton and her Son
Respondents:
It is, with the Consent of both Parties, Ordered,
by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament
assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause, by
Counsel, at the Bar, on Friday the Nineteenth Day of
this Instant January, at Eleven of the Clock; and that
the other Causes be removed, to come on in Course.
Mathew's Bill.
Hodie 1a
vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for
Sale of such Part of the Estate of Nathaniel Mathew,
late of Petersham, in the County of Surrey, Gentleman, deceased, as will be sufficient to discharge his
Debts and Legacies, thereon charged by his last Will
and Testament; and for settling the Remainder thereof
to the Uses in the said Will mentioned."
Papers concerning the War in Spain, delivered.
The Lord Dartmouth (pursuant to the Order of
Monday last) delivered the Papers following; (videlicet,)
1. "The Earl of Gallway's Letter to Sir Charles
Hedges, 7th December 1705, N. S."
2. "The Result of a Conference at Elvas, 3d December 1705."
3. "Mr. Methuen's Letter to Sir Charles Hedges, 9th
December 1705."
And his Lordship acquainted the House, "That the
other Letters mentioned in the said Order are not to
be found, as appears by Sir Charles Hedges' Letter
of the Sixteenth Instant."
E. of Gallway to send Papers.
Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in
Parliament assembled, That the Earl of Gallway do lay
before this House, with all convenient Speed, Copies of
his Letters to Mr. Secretary Hedges, dated the 17th and
28th December 1705, and that of the 31st of January
170 5/6.
Address, for Numbers of Effective Men in Spain and Portugal.
Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in
Parliament assembled, That the Lords with White
Staves do attend Her Majesty, from this House, humbly
to desire, "That Her Majesty will please to give Order,
that the Number of Effective Men that were at the
Battle of Almanza, the Number of Effective Men that
have ever since been present in Spain, and also the
Number of Effective Men that were in Portugal in
November and December One Thousand Seven Hundred and Five, and in the Year One Thousand Seven
Hundred and Six, be laid before this House with all
convenient Speed.
E. of Gallway's Answer ready.
The House was informed, "That the Earl of Gallway was very ill; but that his Answer, in Writing,
signed by him, was ready to be delivered, when their
Lordships should please to receive it."
