PRAYERS.

Henley, Leave for a Bill.

After reading the Report of the Judges, to whom was referred the Petition of Elizabeth Henley Widow and others; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for the Purposes therein mentioned:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill, according to the Prayer of the Petition.

E. Torrington versus Sir J. Shaw, Privilege.

Whereas this Day was appointed for the Lords Committees for Privileges to take into Consideration the Petition of Arthur Earl of Torrington, complaining of a Breach of Privilege committed by Robert Depup, Sir John Shaw's Bailiff; as also to hear Counsel on Behalf of the said Sir John Shaw: And the House being moved, That a further Time may be appointed for the meeting of the said Committee, his Lordship being ill:

It is therefore Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Committee do meet on Monday next, at Ten a Clock in the Forenoon, for the Purposes abovementioned.

African Co. versus Att. General, in Error:

Whereas this Day was appointed, for hearing the Errors argued upon the Writ of Error brought into this House, the Twelfth Day of December last, from Her Majesty's Court of Exchequer, wherein the Royal African Company of England are Plaintiffs, and Her Majesty's Attorney General is Defendant; Counsel appearing for the Defendant, but no Counsel for the Plaintiff in Error:

Judgement, affirmed, with Costs.

It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Judgement given in the said Court of Exchequer shall be, and is hereby, affirmed; and that the Record be remitted, to the End Execution may be had thereupon, as if no such Writ of Error had been brought into this House: And it is further Ordered, That the said Plaintiffs in Error shall pay, or cause to be paid, to the said Defendant in Error, the Sum of Twenty Pounds, for his Costs.

The Tenor of which Judgement, to be affixed to the Transcript of the Record to be remitted, followeth:

"Et quia Cur. Parliamenti de Judicio suo de & super Præmissis reddend. nondum advisatur, Dies inde dat. est Partibus præd. usque Diem Lunæ, Septimum Diem Aprilis extunc prox. sequen. apud Westm. in Comitat. Midd'x, de Judicio suo audiend. eo quod Cur. Parliamenti præd. nondum &c.; ad quem Diem, coram Curia Parliamenti præd. ven. tam præsat. Societas per Attornatum suum præd. quam præd. Attornat. dictæ Dominæ Reginæ General. in propria Persona sua; super quo, vis. per Cur. Parliamenti præd. examinat. tam Record. & Process. præd. ac Judic. superinde reddit. quam Causis pro Error. superinde assignat. cons. est per Cur. Parliamenti præd. quod Judicium præd. affirmetur, cum Vigint. Libris pro Custag. dictæ Dominæ Reginæ solvi per Societat. præd.; ac quod Record. præd. remittatur in Cur. Scaccarii dictæ Dominæ Reginæ, ad Execution. superinde pro dicta Domina Regina fiend."

Bankrupts Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for repealing a Clause in the Statute made in the Twenty-first Year of the Reign of King James the First, intituled, An Act for the further Description of a Bankrupt, and Relief of Creditors against such as shall become Bankrupts; and for inflicting Corporal Punishment upon the Bankrupts in some special Cases, which makes Descriptions of Bankrupts; and for the Explanation of the Laws relating to Bankruptcy, in case of Partnership."

And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Howard of Escrick reported from the Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and made some Amendments thereunto; which he was ready to report, when the House will please to receive the same."

Ordered, That the Report be received on Wednesday next, at Twelve a Clock.

Adjourn.
